MOSQUE
Mosques were established as houses of
worship - “Houses of God”- for Muslims
to direct themselves to in order to uphold
the various rituals God has ordained on
His pious servants. God Almighty says, “The
mosques of Allah should only be maintained
by those who believe in Allah and the Last
Day, establish prayer, pay alms-tax, and fear
none but Allah. It is right to hope that they
will be among the rightly guided.” [9:12].
Many mosques were established during
the time of the Prophet (PBUH) in his city
of Madina. They stand as destinations for
millions of visitors and pilgrims around the
year, carrying with them the fragrance and
a light of the sanctity of the place.
The Miqat –or Dhul-Hulayfah- mosque:
It has been named so –Miqat- for it being
“an appointed-place” for pilgrims from
Madina to establish their niyya, or intention,
to enter into the state of pilgrimage. It has
been narrated that the son of Umar, (RA),
stated that the Prophet (PBUH) ordered his
camel to dismount at Al-Batha’ at Dhul-
Hulayfah, where he offered his prayer.
قامت المساجد كبيوت هلل في األرض يتوجه إليها
المسلمون ألداء أنواع العبادات التي أمر اهلل بها
عباده الصالحين.‏ قال تعالى « إِنَّمَ‏ ا يَعْ‏ مُ‏ رُ‏ مَ‏ سَ‏ اجِ‏ دَ‏
اللَّهِ‏ مَ‏ نْ‏ آمَ‏ نَ‏ بِاللَّهِ‏ وَ‏ الْيَوْ‏ مِ‏ اآلخِ‏ رِ‏ وَ‏ أَقَ‏ امَ‏ الصَّ‏ الةَ‏ وَ‏ آتَى
الزَّ‏ كَ‏ اةَ‏ وَ‏ لَمْ‏ يَخْ‏ شَ‏ إِال اللَّهَ‏ فَ‏ عَ‏ سَ‏ ى أُولَئِكَ‏ أَنْ‏ يَكُ‏ ونُوا
مِ‏ نَ‏ الْمُ‏ هْ‏ تَدِ‏ ينَ‏ » سورة التوبة آية ١٧.
في مدينة المصطفى عليه الصالة والسالم
وكمقصد لماليين الزائرين والحجاج على مدار
العام مساجد حملت عبق الزمان عبر التاريخ
وأُضيئت بقدسية المكان.‏
ومن أهم مساجد المدينة المنورة مسجد
الميقات أو مسجد ذي الحليفة والذي كان موقعه
منزالً‏ للرسول عليه الصالة والسالم قبل أن يُبنى
المسجد في العصر األموي.‏
قد سمي بمسجد الميقات ألنه ميقات أهل المدينة
يحرمون منه بنية الحج والعمرة.‏ وجاء في ذلك عن
ابن عمر رضي اهلل عنه قال:‏ أن النبي صلى اهلل عليه
وسلم أناخ بالبطحاء التي بذي الحليفة فصلى
بها.‏ وقد بُني المسجد في عهد عمر بن عبد
العزيز وجُ‏ دد في العصر العباسي ثم في العهد
العثماني وكان المسجد صغيرًا جدًا مبنيً‏ من
اللبن والحجارة ولم يكن مجهزًا لخدمة الحجاج
والمعتمرين،‏ فأمر الملك فهد بن عبدالعزيز رحمه
اهلل بتجديده وتوسعته.‏
