Zitat aus einem Artikel über ihn: „To achieve the
subtle surface textures and colour combinations,
Beard bisque fires the stoneware pieces at 1000°C
and after cooling covers the entire surface of a
piece with the first glaze. Then patterns are painted
in wax that acts as a resist and a layer of another
glaze is applied on the areas that do not bear wax.
The process is repeated, using a combination of
shiny, matt and semi-matt glazes, complimentary
and contrasting colours and textures to create quiet
details within colours that will emerge after firing, for
up to four layers of glaze. The work is then fired at
1280°C.“
