This paper presents an analytical framework to encompass contributions to the
literature on equity in climate change, and highlights the consequences - in terms of
future emissions allocations - of different approaches to equity. These include:
progressive cuts relative to historic levels; equal per capita emissions, historic
responsibility, and ability to pay; and preserving future development opportunities.
The authors show that each of the approaches to equity necessarily imposes large
costs on at least some groups of countries.
Soziale Bewegung + Indigene Bevölkerung + Klimawandel + Klimapolitik
Over the last two decades, the Indigenous movement to stop human-induced climate
change has grown into a major civil society voice and force, both within the United
Nations climate conferences as well as in parallel and autonomous spaces. The
author contextualizes the movement's roots within the historic rise of an international
Indigenous movement framed around human rights and presents a characterization
of the unique discourses and epistemology held by the International Indigenous
Climate Movement.
The papers in this special issue represent some of the most comprehensive
analyses of the implications of climate change for developing countries undertaken to
date. The papers employ a bottoms-up systems approach whereby the implications
of climate change are evaluated using structural models of agriculture and
infrastructure systems. The authors of the paper hail from multiple disciplines.
