CFPA Europe: How does it work?
The general assembly decides on the year’s programme of work. Working parties are
appointed to progress the projects contained in the year’s programme and the results of
research or investigations by the working parties are published as guidelines in one or more
of the member nations.
CFPA Europe conceives and organises seminars and conferences on major issues in the
field of fire protection & security.
CFPA Europe draws on the resources of members to help undertake research into and,
where necessary, to provide training in the topics in the year’s programme.
CFPA Europe: training and education
Much of the work of CFPA Europe is directed towards raising the level of public and
commercial awareness about the hazards of fire but national associations also undertake
training in aspects of security.
All the national associations run training courses about the various aspects of fire protection &
security prevention. A European diploma in fire safety management is offered to students
participating in the training schemes offered by each of the national associations. In each
country, and at a common level of examination, students are tested on their broad knowledge
and understanding of fire protection matters, including aspects of security which relate to fire
protection. The award of the CFPA Europe Diploma in Fire Safety is recognised across the
continent and diplomates are acknowledged as qualified practitioners in fire prevention.
