Technopol Wiener Neustadt
Unter dem Überbegriff „Medizin- und Materialtechnologien“
wird in Wiener Neustadt in folgenden fünf
Technologiefeldern geforscht und gelehrt:
• Materialien
• Tribologie (Reibung, Verschleiß, Schmierung)
• Medizin-Technik
• Sensorik-Aktorik
• Oberflächen
Bereits 1994 wurde im Einklang mit dem Start der
Fachhochschule Wiener Neustadt das ursprüngliche
Technologie- und Forschungszentrum eröffnet.
In direkter Nähe zur Fachhochschule befindet sich das
neue Technologie- und Forschungszentrum, welches
u.a. folgende außeruniversitäre F&E-Einrichtungen
beherbergt: 4 Kompetenzzentren für Tribologie,
Elektro chemie, Medizin-Technik und Bio-Resorbierbare
Implantat Materialien, die Fotec GmbH als Forschungsgesellschaft
der Fachhochschule, das Institut
für Integrierte Sensorsysteme der Donau-Universität
Krems, die Unit „Biomedical Systems“ des Austrian
Institute of Technology – AIT, den Fachbereich „Oberflächentechnik“
des OFI sowie die Projektentwicklungsgruppen
für das Krebsforschungs- und Therapiezentrum
MedAustron.
Am Technopol wird auf die Nutzung komplementärer
Ressourcen und Kompetenzen großer Wert gelegt. Der
Technopol ist somit international beispielgebender
Partner für innovative Unternehmen mit erfolgreicher
Kombination anwendungsorientierter Forschung, Entwicklung
und Dienstleistung sowie Ausbildung.
In den ansässigen F&E-Einrichtungen können Bachelor-,
Masterarbeiten und Dissertationen verfasst werden.
In Wiener Neustadt, Medical and Materials Technology
are carried out in five main technology areas within the
broader discipline of modern industrial technologies:
• Materials
• Tribology (friction, wear, lubrication)
• Medical technology
• Sensory technology and actuators
• Surfaces
The original Technology and Research Center, the TFZ,
commenced operations in 1994, concurrent to the
founding of the University of Applied Sciences Wiener
Neustadt.
The new TFZ is directly adjacent to the University
and is home to numerous independent R&D facilities,
including four competence centers (for tribology,
electro chemical surface technologies, medical innovation,
and bio-compatible medical implants); Fotec,
the research subsidiary of the University of Applied
Sciences; the Institute for Integrated Sensor Systems
of the Danube University Krems; the Biomedical Systems
unit of the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology;
the surface technology department of the ofi Austrian
Research Institute for Chemistry and Technology; and
MedAustron Cancer Research Center project development
groups.
At the Technopol, great emphasis is placed on the
complementary use of resources and competencies,
making it an attractive location for innovative companies.
As well, the Technopol is exemplary on an international
scale in its able combination of applicationoriented
R&D, services, and educational opportunities.
Bachelor and Master theses as well as PhD dissertations
may be completed at the R&D facilities located here.
