exam, have credit and background
checks completed and
maintain continuing education.
Evaluate mortgage options.
There are several different
types of mortgage programs
available based on length,
fixed versus adjustable, down
payment and rate. Customers
should have the licensed loan
officer go over all of the options
to see what is best for them and
their real estate goals.
Experience. This is very important,
because when getting
a new mortgage, customers are
probably dealing with the largest
business transaction in their
life. Make sure the licensed
loan officer has the years of experience
and knowledge to help
customers complete their transactions
smoothly and easily.
Is the licensed loan officer
local? When getting a new
mortgage, it is best to deal with
someone local who knows the
market, can meet in person, has
local references to be reviewed
and is available when the customer
has a question. Dealing
with an 800 number or website
out of state can create issues in
communication and execution.
