The volunteers
ast Saturday morning 40 volunteers showed up at the Harbor Village Marina
L to participate in the beach cleanup organized by Sea Turtle Conservation Bonaire
(STCB) and STINAPA. They managed to fill many bags with trash from No
Name Beach and the east side of Klein Bonaire. Most of what they picked up from
the beach is trash that is blown off the main island and brought to Klein Bonaire by
the strong easterly trade winds.
No Name Beach is Bonaire's primary hawksbill and loggerhead nesting beach and
maintaining unobstructed access to beaches for egg laying females is extremely important
to the survival of these endangered animals. STCB release
