Byrd and Gray Perry Awards
by Norma Mastrogiacomo, Chair
The spring competitions of the Florida State Music Teachers Association were held at Hillsborough Community College Ybor
City campus in Tampa on May 12th. The Byrd Piano ensemble and the Gray Perry competition were chaired by Norma
were two excellent Steinway B grand pianos and a really great venue that was spacious and comfortable.
Congratulations to the students and teachers for their first-rate performances and enthusiastic participation. I would also like
to thank Hillsborough Community College for their hospitality. They have been hosts for the FSMTA competitions in the past, and
again they were warm, helpful and very accommodating to our needs. Their facilities are exceptional, the staff is wonderful and
Ybor City is interesting for all. Thank you so much!!
