Continuing <strong>the</strong> successful series <strong>of</strong> shared<br />

screenings organised by Michael Johns <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> GBFTE,<br />

<strong>the</strong> dates for alternate Mondays in 2009 are given<br />

below. Please note that because <strong>of</strong> Bank Holidays on<br />

April 13 th , May 25 th and August 31 st, <strong>the</strong> screenings for<br />

those weeks will be on <strong>the</strong> Tuesday.<br />

Unless o<strong>the</strong>rwise advised, <strong>show</strong>s commence at<br />

8.00pm, in <strong>The</strong>atre 7, Pinewood Film Studios.<br />

Owing to <strong>the</strong> uncertainty <strong>of</strong> print availability,<br />

<strong>the</strong> actual film title is <strong>of</strong>ten not confirmed until a<br />

few days before each <strong>show</strong>ing and <strong>members</strong> will<br />

be advised by e-mail only, since <strong>the</strong>re may not be<br />

time for conventional post. To join this Screenings email<br />

allowing <strong>the</strong> use <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> prestigious <strong>The</strong>atre 7.<br />

In <strong>the</strong> event <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>The</strong>atre being unavailable to us, you will be advised <strong>of</strong> an alternative venue.<br />

<strong>The</strong> first TV to be launched that supports a new widened picture<br />

format <strong>of</strong> 21:9 aspect ratio is expected about <strong>the</strong> time <strong>of</strong> publication<br />

<strong>of</strong> this Journal. Philips have announced a Cinema 21:9 HDTV LCD<br />

set with a 56 inch display that is described as being able to <strong>show</strong> full<br />

<strong>the</strong>atrical aspect ratio without borders. Prices and availability are<br />

not currently available, nor details <strong>of</strong> exactly how it will handle 16:9<br />

content.<br />
