The committee is concerned with all aspects of law as it relates to art,<br />
artists and cultural heritage in the broadest context. This extends from<br />
archaeology and the protection of ancient monuments to national<br />
heritage and public and private collections to the art trade and<br />
contemporary art. ‘Art law‘ is an interdisciplinary field involving tax<br />
(individual estates and charities), commercial transactions, intellectual<br />
property in all aspects and private and public international law.<br />

The scope of the committee’s work covers network, service and<br />
content-related developments across all delivery platforms. This<br />

This committee focuses on intellectual property and entertainment<br />
law. The term ‘intellectual property’, as it is commonly referred to<br />
today, includes a diverse range of areas of law. The main areas are<br />
patents, trademarks, copyright, trade secrets and unfair competition.<br />
Allied to these are a number of related areas including data<br />
protection, database protection, privacy, design rights and domain<br />
names. In the entertainment law area, the key focus is on the<br />
creation, provision and delivery of content in relation to print, films,<br />
broadcasts, cable programmes, musical works and sound recordings.<br />
There is also involvement with media law including defamation and<br />
privacy and authors’ rights in a more general sense.<br />
