Sustainable Urban Horticulture Program<br />

starting January 2013<br />

Sustainable Urban Horticulture<br />

Are you interested in Horticulture and Agriculture? Richard J. Daley College is proud to partner with<br />

<strong>Chicago</strong> Botanic Gardens and Windy <strong>City</strong> Harvest in the newest GREEN horticulture and agricultural program<br />

in <strong>Chicago</strong>. Participants acquire hands-on experience with sustainable vegetable production and learn essential<br />

business skills, including planning, pricing, sales, and marketing. The newest learning experience is Aquaponic<br />

Farming and Hoophouse Planting. Students receive six months <strong>of</strong> hands-on instruction in greenhouse and<br />

outdoor growing practices, followed by a three-month paid internship. To find out about the Sustainable Urban<br />

Horticulture program, there will be two information sessions <strong>of</strong>fered at 2800 South Western. For more<br />

The 2013 Windy <strong>City</strong> Harvest Sustainable Urban Horticulture & Agriculture certificate program application<br />

deadline is November 2, 2012. Attending one information session is a mandatory component <strong>of</strong> application<br />

process. Twenty applicants are selected based upon WIA eligibility, community based work and urban agriculture<br />

experience.<br />

- Time for questions and answers with the WCH program Instructor and Supervisor<br />
