3. Assessment<br />
The marking scheme is comprised <strong>of</strong> a balanced structure <strong>of</strong> examination components and assessment<br />
categories. Taken together they form a matrix that enables the performance <strong>of</strong> each candidate to be<br />
systematically assessed and marked.<br />
3.1 Assessment objectives<br />
During an examination candidates will be assessed on their ability to demonstrate mastery <strong>of</strong>:<br />
Domain 1: Technical Accomplishment<br />
The extent to which the instrument is effectively<br />
controlled, assessed via the candidate's<br />
performance.<br />
Domain 3: Musical Knowledge<br />
The synthesis <strong>of</strong> theoretical, notational and<br />
contextual knowledge.<br />
