Alumnus leads Kenya’s London<br />

marketing drive<br />

Kimonye led Kenyan sportsmen and<br />

women in marketing the country as a top<br />

tourism destination during the London<br />

Olympic Games held in August this year.<br />

Mrs Kimonye, an alumnus <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Nairobi</strong> led the athletes in using Kenya’s sporting<br />

heritage to showcase available economic<br />

opportunities to investors.<br />

The exhibition dubbed Kenya House, was opened<br />

by President Mwai Kibaki.<br />

Speaking in East London near the Olympic<br />

Park, President Kibaki said Kenya House was<br />

showcasing the various investment, trade and<br />

tourism opportunities available to investors and<br />

visitors in the new, transformed Kenya.<br />

The exhibition was intended to provide a platform<br />

where top <strong>of</strong>ficials from Kenya’s public and private<br />

sector would brief potential foreign investors as<br />

well as Kenyans in diaspora on trade, tourism and<br />

investment opportunities in the country.<br />

The exhibition was organised jointly by Brand<br />

Kenya and Kenya Commercial Bank and had<br />

various themes among them the Export Day,<br />

Tourism Day, Culture and Sports.<br />

Chief executives<br />

The exhibition featured top chief executives in the<br />

public and private sector including Permanent<br />

Secretaries <strong>of</strong> the Ministries <strong>of</strong> Information and<br />

Communication, Roads, Environment, Planning as<br />

well as Youth and Sports.<br />

It also featured corporate and civil service chiefs<br />

including Kenya Commercial Bank Chief Executive<br />

country’s attractiveness<br />

to holiday makers, nature<br />

conservationists, artists,<br />

investors and other nationals<br />

who would like to make Kenya<br />

their home.
