Part of My<br />

Summer”I am grateful for Family and <strong>MWR</strong><br />

Fun in the El Paso Sun<br />

I love summer because I get to<br />

stay home with my family. We like<br />

to ride bikes, read books, play board<br />

games and play outside. My favorite<br />

thing to do in the summer is playing<br />

at Biggs Park. I can go to the splash<br />

park, play at the playground and<br />

have a picnic at the park. I got to play<br />

laser tag at the park for my brother’s<br />

birthday party. I also like to eat ice<br />

cream at Dairy Queen at Freedom<br />

Crossing and go to the movie theatre.<br />

I learned how to read this year and<br />

I get to be in the reading club at the<br />

library and read lots of books with<br />

my brothers. This summer I get to<br />

join cub scouts on post as a Tiger cub<br />

scout and do fun things. My daddy<br />

deploys soon and I hope we get to go<br />

to Disneyland before he leaves.<br />

How family and <strong>MWR</strong> will be a part of my summer!<br />

Hello, my name is Natalie Harden. I have been part of the Military<br />

community for years; actually it has been most of my life.<br />

Family and <strong>MWR</strong> has always been a big help for me. With all<br />

the wonderful events to take away stress, their helpful signs all<br />

over post to keep me informed about upcoming events, and of<br />

course the awesome customer service from the great people<br />

who work there. This summer I have many plans, and looking<br />

back at each one, most involve F<strong>MWR</strong> in a different way.<br />

Just to name a few, the amazing, fun camps are arranged by<br />

CYSS, the Recreation Division keeps the pools inviting and<br />

clean, and the bowling alley is a great place to play and<br />

make memories. F<strong>MWR</strong> is an excellent option for great<br />

fun. I am definitely going to beat the heat and enjoy my<br />

vacation with my family doing as many F<strong>MWR</strong> activities<br />

as I can! I will conclude my essay by<br />

adding, thank you to all who work for<br />

F<strong>MWR</strong>, for always being there when<br />

someone needs a helping hand or a<br />

nice smile. So thank you!<br />

Family and <strong>MWR</strong> are a major part of my families’ life. To start this out, every day<br />

after school and during summer we go to Youth Services (YS). I have so much fun at<br />

the YS not just because of the activities but because of the friends I make there. Dur-<br />

ing the school year, the YS is also fun but during the summer it’s breathtaking. The<br />

kinds of camps they have are fun even to teenagers. The types of camps they have<br />

are bowling, paintball, computer animation, cooking and much more. To me there<br />

was a certain camp that defined summer fun and had fun activities for all of us; that<br />

camp is Survivor Camp. Survivor Camp has it all and they’re going to repeat the camp<br />

again. I’m excited about what fun that I will have this year at Survivor Camp.<br />

Another activity that I love to be a part of is the <strong>MWR</strong> White Sands Camping<br />

Trip. I’ve gone three times. The first time was with only with my mom and brother.<br />

The second time my dad came along and third time my God sister came along. The<br />

camping trips seem to get better every year and I can’t wait until the next one. On the<br />

camp trip, they provided us with snacks, water, dinner, boogie boards which is pretty<br />

good because sometimes we forget stuff at home. Even though we go home with<br />

sands in just about everywhere uncomfortable; it’s always good to see the smile on<br />

my families face.<br />

The last activities I want to talk about are at Biggs Park. The first thing I would<br />

like to talk about is the Easter Extravaganza, it had tons of activities for me do that I<br />

enjoyed. The second is the Christmas event, there were so many activities that I could<br />

not go to all of them. Finally, the last event was the 4th of July concert. Both the con-<br />

cert and the fireworks were amazing. I was impressed that the Commanding General<br />

was there and even led the concert. There are tons of activities provided by Family<br />

and <strong>MWR</strong>; my family and I are grateful that we have opportunity to enjoy them all.<br />
