dancing, swing, salsa,
mambo, etc. has grown
dramatically in recent
years, fueled, to some extent, by
popular shows like “Dancing with
the Stars”. This growing number of
enthusiasts is faced with the issue
of finding the place to practice their
dance skills. For years, area residents

a variety of ballroom dance classes.
MCC Executive Director Julie
Rasmussen, on board for just nine
months, hopes that the “Summer
Swing” dance will be the first of
many community dances held at
the Center. “With its high ceilings
and sprung wood floor, the community
hall is ideal for dancing,”
Rasmussen said. “There is a shortage
of large rooms like the one we
have here, and the demand for
dance space is increasing. We’d like
to help the community take full
advantage of this wonderful resource
that’s right in their own
neighborhood.”
The event will feature live music
from the 18-piece Loudoun Jazz
Garrison Keillor, 8 p.m. at the
