WORKBOOK 2012 Packaging 6 Tatonka – repackaged! We have optimised and optically updated the packaging for our small items collection (boxes, header cards). This will be available to retailers from January 2012. The hangtags on all TATONKA products will also be in line with the new look. Informative and pro-service · Large, detailed product photos aid rapid orientation. · Easy-read symbols communicate the necessary technical information. · Expressive photos illustrate application examples. · All the products can be easily removed and handled. · Opening and closing the box numerous times leaves no visible trace of usage. As an outdoor brand that sets great store by ecological and economic sustainability, TATONKA will continue to use cardboard sales packaging. Ecologically sustainable · Wood is a renewable resource. · Cardboard is easily recycled. Economically sustainable · The manufacture of cardboard packages saves resources and is comparatively cost effective. · The cost of recycling cardboard is comparatively cheap.* *Recycling of sales packaging: As the manufacturer, in accordance with German packaging regulations TATONKA currently pays €165 for the collection of a ton of paper/cardboard. In comparison, the collection of a ton of sorted plastic currently costs €843. TATONKA performs the following advance services: 1. Each new product is weighed individually together with its sales packaging (product, proportions of the various materials contained in the sales packaging). 2. All data is maintained in a data base of existing products. 3. On a fi xed testing date every year, a weighing protocol is created for all the products to ensure that all the data is accurate. 4. At the end of the year, the data is evaluated and the proportions of the various materials are calculated and tested by an auditor. 5. The recycling payments that TATONKA is required to make are calculated on this basis.
