2. Cognitive Decline:<br />
The Whitehall II Prospective Cohort Study<br />
The objectives were to estimate 10-year decline<br />
in cognitive function from 5198 men and 2192<br />
women office based civil servants, aged 45-70.<br />
Tests of memory, reasoning, vocabulary, and<br />
phonemic and semantic fluency, were assessed<br />
three times over 10 years. All cognitive scores,<br />
except vocabulary, declined in all age categories,<br />
with evidence of faster decline in older people.<br />
