Continuing with our annual tradition, La Puente is partnering
with Church World Services to organize CROP Walk,
standing for Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty.
The event is a 5K fun walk to raise funds and awareness
for and about hunger issues locally and worldwide. With
the great need that always surrounds us in the valley, CROP
Walk is a time to remember the need that continues to exist
globally.

The PALS Children’s Program recently began a Career
Series, partnering with local professionals to provide an
explorative environment for the kids to learn about different
jobs and lifestyles. Most recently, the PALS spent
time at a local veterinary clinic. Soon, the kids will meet
with musicians from Adams State College.
This coming spring and summer, the Alamosa Food Bank and Adelante Family Self-
Sufficiency program are excited to announce their plans for remodelling the current
food bank and adjacent building, previously the home of Rethreads, La Puente’s free
clothing store. With the help of summer
work groups, there are also plans for a
large mural on the west exterior side of the
food bank, hopefully bringing more color
and life to the community.
La Puente’s Community Gardens is getting ready for another
productive season. They hope to expand their partnerships
in the community from teaching more cooking and preservation
classes to planting individual gardens at La Puente’s
volunteer houses. They are ready to show the community
the importance of and wonderful flavor in local and fresh
produce. Join us for the garden party kick off on April 27th.
