Discover the museum
The permanent exhibition offers a journey
in the history and current techniques. You
will find the seven areas of the museum :
scientific instrument, materials, construction,
communication, energy, mechanic
and transportations. Inside each area the
progression is treated in a chronological
way.
GENERAL TOUR
The treasures of the museum
Which objects are hidden under the term
"sciences and techniques tools ?" Throughout
the different areas of the museum,
this tour is highlighting some of the master-work
of the collection and stories of
the man’s inventive genius.
The great inventors of the museum.
Nowadays the museum perpetuates
the assignments of preservation and increase
the national heritage, illustrating
the process of sciences and techniques.
If the names of some of the technicians,
such as Blériot or Watt, seem inevitable,
others less famous also deserve the trip.
THEMATICS TOUR
The pioneers of the transportations
Who invented the car, the bicycle or the
plane ? Behind the technical inventions
there are men which Hystory has often
forgotten the name. Throughout the path,
the discovery of the first means of transportations
is rounded out by the mention
of newly engines.

From the telegraph to the phone
In 1794, Claude Chappe inaugurated a fast
and reliable system of communication.
A century later, the era of electric telegraphy
is at its height !
At the same time, the idea of transmitting
the speech by means of electricity was
born. Thereby, the genius and the work
of some men will allow to communicate
from distance, with the invention of a
"speaking telegraph” : the phone.
Time measurement
How did we know what time it was before
the invention of watches and clocks ? The
time measurement is closely related to
the stars, more particularly to the sun.
At the origins of the cinema
How to give the illusion of movement ?
Thaumatrope, zoottrope, praxinoscope are
optic games which marked the transition
from the fixe to the animated pictures.
From the finger to the calculator, the
arithmetic
Come to learn how to add and subtract
with the "Pascaline" and the Chinese abacus,
to multiply with the Neper’s sticks.
Copying machine
The history of the printing is rich of inventions
and techniques (of engraving, lithography…)
to copy writings and pictures.
The electricity
Straighten up hair, ringing bells, lightnings,
magnets which turn on the light…
come to understand these electrical
phenomenons.

from 1:30pm to 3:30pm ;
" From the telegraph to the phone"
from 4:00pm à 5:30pm

Permanent exhibitions and temporaries
are free on presentation of proof.
Free for an accompanying person.
Guided tours : 40€ per group (15 persons
maximum)
