will find the seven areas of the museum :<br />
scientific instrument, materials, construction,<br />
communication, energy, mechanic<br />
and transportations. Inside each area the<br />
progression is treated in a chronological<br />

Which objects are hidden under the term<br />
"sciences and techniques tools ?" Throughout<br />
the different areas of the museum,<br />
this tour is highlighting some of the master-work<br />
of the collection and stories of<br />
the man’s inventive genius.<br />
The great inventors of the museum.<br />
Nowadays the museum perpetuates<br />
the assignments of preservation and increase<br />
the national heritage, illustrating<br />
the process of sciences and techniques.<br />
If the names of some of the technicians,<br />
such as Blériot or Watt, seem inevitable,<br />
others less famous also deserve the trip.<br />
THEMATICS TOUR<br />
The pioneers of the transportations<br />
Who invented the car, the bicycle or the<br />
plane ? Behind the technical inventions<br />
there are men which Hystory has often<br />
forgotten the name. Throughout the path,<br />
the discovery of the first means of transportations<br />
is rounded out by the mention<br />
of newly engines.<br />

From the telegraph to the phone<br />
In 1794, Claude Chappe inaugurated a fast<br />
and reliable system of communication.<br />
A century later, the era of electric telegraphy<br />
is at its height !<br />
At the same time, the idea of transmitting<br />
the speech by means of electricity was<br />
born. Thereby, the genius and the work<br />
of some men will allow to communicate<br />
from distance, with the invention of a<br />
"speaking telegraph” : the phone.<br />
Time measurement<br />
How did we know what time it was before<br />
the invention of watches and clocks ? The<br />
time measurement is closely related to<br />
the stars, more particularly to the sun.<br />
At the origins of the cinema<br />
How to give the illusion of movement ?<br />
Thaumatrope, zoottrope, praxinoscope are<br />
optic games which marked the transition<br />
from the fixe to the animated pictures.<br />
From the finger to the calculator, the<br />
arithmetic<br />

with the "Pascaline" and the Chinese abacus,<br />
to multiply with the Neper’s sticks.<br />
Copying machine<br />
The history of the printing is rich of inventions<br />
and techniques (of engraving, lithography…)<br />
to copy writings and pictures.<br />
The electricity<br />
Straighten up hair, ringing bells, lightnings,<br />
magnets which turn on the light…<br />
