LEGION POSTER CONTEST Congratulations to Zjaya Doman whose entry<br />

CELEBRATION FOR 100’S DAY To celebrate the 100th day of school, our<br />
Primary students worked hard to gather over 100 cans of food for the<br />
local food banks. They were very excited that their efforts brought in 129<br />
cans! Great work, everyone.<br />
STEW DELIGHT This week, our kitchen will be featuring the lunch recipe<br />
submitted by Alexander and Dane Munro, “Dad’s Famous Chicken Stew.”<br />

HIGHLAND WINS Claire Nolli recently took to the stage at the BC Open<br />
Highland Dance Competition where her performance earned her first<br />
overall. Outstanding!<br />
SCHOOL PLAY This year’s gripping student presentation of “The Cagebirds”<br />
takes to the stage in the QMS Fine Arts Theatre April 4th‐6th. Be sure to<br />

FACULTY BIO OF <strong>THE</strong> WEEK—Meet Andy Young<br />
Our Junior Athletic Director hails from Toronto, Ontario, and is<br />
enjoying his eighth year as a teacher. Mr. Young is passionate about<br />
sports and teaching kids, and was excited to join QMS this year and<br />
move to Canada’s west coast. His favourite sports are basketball<br />
and football...Go Raptors and the 49’ers! Did you know that this<br />
former ball‐boy for the University of Western’s Mustang Football<br />
team has two undergraduate degrees—one in Physical & Health<br />
Education and one in Classical History? He is also certified to teach<br />
French, be a guidance counselor and to be a principal. Wow!<br />

This year’s spring fundraising event will offer a delicious country<br />
buffet, great silent/live auctions and live entertainment for boot<br />
scootin’ dance floor moves. Local personalities Jim Jackson of<br />
SunFM and Stormin’ Norm Jackson of Cowichan Golf & Country Club<br />
will keep the evening fun and exciting. Tickets are limited and are<br />
available for $25 each through the attached order form.<br />
Our Admissions staff are travelling to new and exciting<br />
cities around the world to meet with prospective families in<br />

On May 11 th , 2013, Queen Margaret’s School will be hosting one of our largest fundraising events of the year—the QMS<br />
Spring Classic Barn Dance & Auction. All monies raised from this exciting night will go towards our newest building, the<br />
Learning Centre. This new facility will house a Learning Commons, a Learning Resource Centre, and Intermediate and<br />
Middle Years classrooms.<br />
As a parent, you are a valued member of our community. We would like to extend the following opportunities for you to<br />
join in the fun:<br />
1) Purchase Tickets for the Event<br />
We have a limited number of tickets available for this evening of country entertainment. We encourage you to<br />
gather friends and purchase yours as soon as possible. Tickets are $25 each and are available through Leanne<br />
Schultz, by filling in the attached form or emailing barndance@qms.bc.ca. Each ticket includes a delicious<br />
country style buffet dinner and access to a 50/50 draw, a roulette wheel of prizes, auctions and the fabulous live<br />
music of The Tumblin’ Dice! This event is for adults only.<br />
2) Consider a donation to our silent or live auction.<br />
If you own a vacation home, consider donating some time at it and help us put together some amazing travel<br />
opportunities. In previous years, we have been able to offer vacation stays in Whistler, Mt. Washington, Mexico,<br />
Poet’s Cove, and Parksville. If you own a business, this is a fantastic way to promote it to our guests through the<br />
donation of an item or service!<br />
3) Make a monetary donation to sponsor this event.<br />
We can use your donation to purchase auction items and door prizes, or to offset the cost of staging the event.<br />
Remember, all of the money we raise will be put towards our new Learning Centre. Fun sponsorship<br />
opportunities such as “Paint a Pony for QMS” are up for grabs which can be turned into an engaging family<br />
activity. Email Tracy Arden for details.<br />
