Kim A. Mac Leod ’73
Named Alumna of the Year
Kim A. Mac Leod ’73 was
honored as the Alumna
of the Year on September
30 for her dedication
and commitment to
Western New England
College and the Alumni
Association. John M.
“Jay” O’Brien III ’74,
chairman of the Board of
Trustees, presented the
award during the Alumni
Awards Ceremony that
kicked off Homecoming
Weekend.
Mac Leod is a current
member of the Board
of Trustees, as well as a
former member of the
Alumni Association
Board. In addition, she
is involved in various
fundraising activities on
behalf of the College
and was deeply committed
to the Alumni
Healthful Living Center
campaign. She also
recently launched a
matching gift challenge
to fellow alumnae and
was the Commencement
speaker in 1997.

president for Alumni
Relations. “Kim’s dedication
to her profession,
the College, and the

of her personal
and professional success.
She exemplifies the true
spirit of this award.”
A resident of Norwalk,
CT, Mac Leod is the managing
director of DeSilva
& Phillips in New York
City, an investment banking
company that specializes
in the magazine
industry. She has more
than 23 years experience
in publishing and has
launched 18 national
magazines. Mac Leod
was also vice president/magazine
group
development/domestic
and international, and
vice president/group publisher
of Family Fun and
Disney Magazine at
The Walt Disney World
Company. Previously, she
was publisher of Working
Mother and Children,
circulation manager of
Spring, managing editor
of Practical Homeowner,
and founding partner of
House Plants & Porches.
