MOVING TO A UX-CENTRIC WORLD
Consumers expect innovative
experiences across all the
devices they are using.
Delivering a rich, immersive,
transformative mobile
experience has become the de
facto requirement to ensure
wide adoption and success.
We were curious to see if
enterprises think that user
experience matters as much in
apps used by internal company
employees (for expense
reporting, sales enablement, and
other internal processes) and
by other businesses as it does
in consumer apps. A resounding
85.6% of respondents stated
that user experience is just as
important for B2E and B2B apps
as it is for B2C apps.
This heralds the fact that we
now live in a user-experiencecentric
world where beauty,
functionality, and user delight
triumph, whether for mobilizing
internal enterprise processes
or for transforming consumer
relationships. With BYOD, users
are increasingly bringing their
own tablets and smartphones
into the enterprise, and with
those devices come the apps
the employees already use. IT
and the LOBs together must
deliver a more compelling
experience in order to drive a
switch to their enterprise-built
apps. Enterprises are already
witnessing how easy it is for
employees to take matters into
their own hands and expose
the company to security risks
by using third-party mobile
applications that they feel are
easier to learn, are easier to
use, and deliver greater utility
overall. The prevalence of other
mobile app options means
that B2B and B2E mobile apps
cannot be left in “good enough”
status.
A final point: A compelling,
well-designed app actually
costs the enterprise less in
the long run. Lower training
costs, higher adoption rates,
and longer intervals in the
re-development cycle are all
hallmarks of a well-designed
mobile app.
64% of enterprise respondents predict that mobile
development projects will out number web development
projects and will move primarily in-house
