Why Vertical Tillage?
• Horizontal tillage leaves density change layers in the soil.
• Roots in a top, lower density layer are turned sideways
when a higher density layer is encountered.
• Vertical tillage leaves a uniform, unrestricted soil profile
that promotes maximum root development.
• Plants raised in a vertical tillage system are more drought
resistant, reach and utilize more nutrients, and have greater
standability due to healthier stalks and root systems.

TURBO-TILL SERIES II TURBO-CHOPPER
- Very versatile tool that sizes residue and prepares the seedbed
without introducing yield damaging horizontal layers
TURBO-MAX
- Turbo-Max with its 7 1/2’’ blade spacing and adjustable gang angle
from 0° to 6° more aggressive leveling, weed removal, and enhanced
residue sizing.
SUB SOILER
- Eliminates compaction layers and soil density changes in one pass.
Choice of no-till or straight leg shanks.

- This allows for a “crisscross” pattern for chopping residue and
working the soil while still maintaining the benefits of vertical tillage.
ULTRA-TILL
- A finish tool that levels the soil without using sweeps. This tool
evenly distributes residue and levels the field without causing a density
change that can discourage root growth.
TURBO-CHISEL
- Designed for the corn-on-corn producers to loosen all root balls, size
residue, and work horizontally a minimum of 4” deep.

DROP AXLE - The greaseless anti-rotational pivot pin

The Series II Turbo-Till builds
on the solid reputation of the
original Turbo-Till as the most
versatile vertical tillage tool
available. It utilizes two ranks of
our exclusive turbo coulters
to aggressively chop residue
without hairpinning. Turbo-Till
effectively manages residue and
reduces compaction in a wide
range of conditions, providing
a consistent well prepared
seedbed for planting.
Improvements to the Series
II include 3 inch C-shank
standards and heavy-duty
rubber mounted gang bearings
as standard equipment. New
12, 15, 18 and 24 foot working
widths have been added to
the 30 and 40 foot models to
better fit available horsepower.
Current uses include warming
and drying cool wet soils,
incorporating animal waste
and preparing a consistent well
prepared seed bed for planting.
Turbo-Till is also an excellent
fall tool to size and incorporate
residue to begin the decay
process.

FEATURES
& BENEFITS The Turbo-Chopper from Great
Plains combines our aggressive
Turbo Blades with the action of
a turbo patterned chopper reel.
This allows for a “crisscross”
pattern for chopping residue
and working the soil while still
maintaining the benefits of
vertical tillage. This unit offers
the versatility of a fall tillage
CHOPPER BLADES - The angled chopper blades run
perpendicular to the Turbo Blades ensuring complete
and through chopping of the residue and a profile that
is level and uniform to the depth of the front coulters.
CHOPPER GANGS - Both the Turbo gang and the chopper
gang are suspended by 1” x 3” C-shanks and
both gangs use the heavy duty 211 rubber cushioned
cast bearing to provide reliable service.
ROLLING SPIKE HARROW - Loosens, levels and breaks
up clods. This attachment puts the “finishing touch”
on the perfect seedbed.
HYD. WEIGHT TRANSFER - Transfer valve transfers
weight from center to wings providing even,
constant down pressure to the full width.

spring tillage unit for seedbed
preparation. The “crisscross”
pattern of this unit allows for
the loosening and removal of

are 20” in diameter with 10”
spacing followed by the 18”

reels work perpendicular to
the Turbo coulters providing
a smooth seedbed for your
planter. Our patented rolling
harrow and reel combination
is the recommended rear
attachment for the ultimate
seedbed for your planter.
TURBO-CHOPPER - Sizes residue from 2 directions in
one pass. Coulters run between each chopper reel
and in the middle of the C-Shank mounting locations.

The InLine Sub Soiler is another step in
the evolution of our vertical tillage family,
designed to eliminate the compaction layer
created by horizontal tillage tools such as
plows, disks and sweep implements.
The most effective tool available to correct
yield robbing and moisture rejecting
compaction layers created by years of
conventional tillage. The Great Plains
SS1800 and SS2000 InLine Sub Soilers
utilize high tensile strength tubing with
3/8” wall. The 3/4” shanks minimize
surface disturbance while shattering
the subsoil structure. Two shanks are
available. The 3/4” no-till shank and no-till
point provides maximum shatter with
minimum surface disturbance. For more
surface disturbance, choose the 1 1/4”
straight leg shank. Six point options allow

Flexibility
This unit offers the flexibility to till up to 12” deep. If
your goal, is to size and incorporate residue in the
top 4-5” of top soil and leave the soil level enough
for a single pass tool in the spring, this is the tool
of choice!
Great Plains exclusive 22” Turbo coulters on 7
1/2 spacing start the process by slicing residue.
The 22” blades run on a 1 3/4” gang bolt with
cast spools, putting the weight “in the gang”
for good performance and reliability. The gang
bearings are field proven 211 rubber mounted
bearings with cast housings mounted to our heavy
duty 1”x3” “C” Shank standards. The coulter bar
is hydraulically adjustable for on-the-go depth
control.
Models offered are 9-15 shank rigid or 13-23
shank folding with a horse power requirement
of 30 h.p. per shank. Units can be equipped with
either all standard chisel shanks or the front row
of toggle trip parabolic shanks followed by either
parabolic chisel shanks or standard chisel shanks.
The Heavy Duty Toggle Trip Shank is designed to
run 1 1/2” deeper than the chisel shanks on the
rear bar and trips at 2,450 lbs. Rear attachment
options include choice of a “buster bar” to level and

Disk Harrow incorporates features such
as hydraulic leveling, tension nuts on each
end of the gang bolts, and heavy duty
“C” shanks with rubber mounted cast
bearings. These key features are just a few
examples of benefits that provide the user
with the best performing, most reliable
disk in the industry.
Our secondary and finish tools include
the versatile Disc-O-Vator and Field
Cultivator. Both feature the Max-Mix Shank
pattern. This exclusive pattern ensures
that no shank is closer than 28” on a
individual bar. Soil is moved one direction
and then is returned providing excellent
trash distribution and superior herbicide
incorporation.
The Disc-O-Vator also utilizes a single
row of low-concavity disc blades or the
exclusive Turbo Coulter. The Turbo Coulter
allows the tool to operate in higher residue
situations, and at higher speeds sizing the

With the introduction of the 3000 and 4000
Series Disk Harrows, Great Plains not only becomes
a full-line tillage equipment company,
but provides all the key ingredients
customers demand from a top-of-the-line disk
harrow. Six models, which range in cutting
width from 23 to 36 feet in 3-foot increments,
promise reliability; superior cutting ability; optimum
weight per blade, and a level, finished
surface.
The double offset disk harrow is still one of the
most efficient ways to mechanically eliminate
weeds and re-level rutted harvest fields. Like
anything though, the best results come from a
product that was designed for the job.
To that end, the 3000 and 4000 Series disk
harrows feature 6-gauge disc blades; a
20-degree angle on the front gangs and an
18-degree angle on rear gangs; spring “C”
shank bearing standards, and wings that flex
up 14 degrees and down 9 degrees to handle
terraces and rolling terrain. Service and reliability
also receive top billing with features like
1 3/4” gang shafts capped with castle nuts on
both ends for quick disassembly and blade or
bearing replacement. Heavy-duty, cast rubberencased

HEAVIER SPOOLS - The ductile cast spools used on the Great Plains disk are among
the heaviest in the industry. At 23.55 pounds they put more weight closer to the
ground. The result is better penetration, plus longer bearing and standard life.
Ductile cast spools also resist breakage and collapsing compared to steel pipe
style spacers. These spools are a full 6.5 inches in diameter, as much as 1 inch
larger than some competitors. This gives more support to the center of the blade
reducing blade breakage.
