COMPANy HISTORy<br />

GRANT BRENNAN<br />

Grant left New Zealand at the age of 15 to pursue his interests in Automotive Engineering in Australia. He quickly<br />

developed skills in the Race Car and High Performance market, and at the tender age of 17 he became Workshop<br />

Foreman for a leading Sydney based company. After developing relationships with several race teams, Grant was<br />

offered more opportunities to further his experience. Taking advantage of this would prove to be valuable in later<br />

years. Grant returned to New Zealand in 1981 to start his own business and relocated to Tauranga in early 1985.<br />

The business focussed on High Performance engine work involving Turbo Charging and normally aspirated 4 – 6<br />

and 8 cyl engines.<br />

Quickly local customers recognised Grants ability to have things right the first time and his attention to detail.<br />

This grew the business very quickly and a clientelle base not only right throughout New Zealand but also Australia,<br />

USA and the UK. Realising the need to be at the forefront of technology, he ordered machinery and flew experts<br />

from around the world to assist and train him in high technology machinery and automation.<br />

LORRAINE BRENNAN<br />

Lorraine worked with her father in an auto electrical business, further trained in the parts and accounting industry<br />

with Nissan then went on to form a partnership with <strong>Brennan</strong> <strong>Racing</strong> where she furthered her skills and developed<br />

relationships with companies worldwide.<br />

Lorraine is known in the industry as “knowing her stuff” and surprises the most informed engine technicians.<br />

Haas 5 axis machine produces our Dry Sump Pump components,<br />

engine plates, cylinder heads, Rods, pistons etc.


ACHEIvEMENTS<br />

<strong>Brennan</strong> <strong>Racing</strong> was the first complete <strong>Racing</strong> Company established in NZ and was also the first to recognise<br />

automated manufacturing of specialised racing components with the ability to manufacture virtually any component.<br />

Grant and Lorraine have competed or been involved in most forms of Motorsport.<br />

Grant has obtained numerous Lap Records – Fastest speeds –many many first placings - has been Sports Sedan<br />

Overall Winner , Kart NZ1, NZ Super Sedan Overall Champion, Best engineered, best presented. And has<br />

accumulated others too numerous to mention.<br />

Further testament to Grant and Lorraine’s dedication and passion to the sport.<br />

Their committment can be seen when you tour their workshop facility and view the state of<br />

the art machinery that made <strong>Brennan</strong> <strong>Racing</strong> leaders into the new millenium along with other<br />

innovative firsts. These include Centrifugal SuperChargers - Dry Sump Pumps and Sequential<br />

Gearboxes and other specialised one off items.<br />

<strong>Brennan</strong> <strong>Racing</strong> became the first company in Australasia to completely<br />

CNC a cylinder head-inlet and exhaust port and combustion<br />

chamber unmanned. Even with the above achievements and their<br />

successes Brenann <strong>Racing</strong> continue to develop products and<br />

enhance thier engineering capabilities to meet the racers demands.<br />

We have the only 5 axis 20hp vector drive<br />

HAAS in the country - specially designed<br />

for the machining of alloy cylinder heads &<br />

engine blocks. This coupled with Renishaw<br />

Digitising system is a machine capable of<br />

producing any item fast & accurately. We use<br />

it primarily for the machining of our aluminium<br />

cylinder heads which are on the cutting edge<br />

of technology. The sophisticated equipment<br />

captures the chamber & port designs & then<br />

machines the head to a true reproduction<br />

of the original. We also use this machine for<br />

squaring of blocks, decking, clearancing, boring,<br />

machining of piston tops, flat milling and<br />

3 dimensional milling.<br />

The <strong>Brennan</strong> <strong>Racing</strong> pumps have been developed over 5 years and have<br />

had extensive cad design and testing leading to the final product.<br />

Hours of dyno time of individual pieces to develop this pump to where it is now today.<br />

It has been used in severe conditions and continuous running and on track tests have been proved beyond any<br />

doubt that this pump makes more pressure than the same<br />

Pop off setting (or spring height), more volume and 2 inches more vacuum in the pan @ 5000 RPM than any<br />

other pump tested.<br />

The <strong>Brennan</strong> Pump takes less Horsepower to drive – quieter running and more efficient and lighter than any other<br />

pump available today.<br />

CHASSIS<br />

Lightweight: Chassis pictured has 102” wheel base (standard) and is lightweight and completely tig welded<br />

(other wheelbase options are available on special request).<br />

Lightweight was achieved through engineering not by using un-safe thin wall tubing, in fact, the main chassis<br />

and roll cage are built from rugged, durable chrome moly tubing to meet or exceed sanctioning body requirements.<br />

Strength: By using finite element analysis and cad systems we have created a triangulated space frame that when<br />

compared to other frames is ten times stronger in torsional rigidity.<br />

This strength can also be raised with the bonding and riveting of alloy cladding.<br />

Low weight: The weight of the chassis is not only less than most race cars it is also closer to the track.<br />

Our design has strength in the chassis rather than heavy tubing up high to fix a weak chassis<br />

AdjuStAbiLity: Teams are demanding faster and faster, more rigid and precise.<br />

Chassis. They also require a chassis that will allow for small adjustments with noticeable change in lap times and easy driver<br />

feedback.<br />

We have provided driver comfort and a chassis which is very predictable. Engineers can adjust to exact track requirements<br />

very quickly.<br />

This equals more consistent handling and response that the driver can feel.<br />

• Coilover bracketry is mounted without excessive angle which can degrade handling due to loss of hydraulic movement.<br />

• No compromise steering rack location with a highly modified Corvette LH Drive Rack with the exact ratio required for these<br />

chassis’s. This is important during bump and roll suspension conditions. The optimal location has been achieved from countless<br />

hours of testing and analysis with suspension movement. It uses CNC machined bracketry for mounting.<br />

• Engine bay has ample room for most engine configurations. It makes tuning and maintenance easier.<br />

• Chassis provides for front, mid and rear mounting of motor and transmission to aid in rigidity and support.<br />

• Adjustable steering height allows the driver to maintain the optimal location for handling.<br />

• Proper triangulation throughout creates a rigid platform for the suspension to work from. Less flex creates less metal fatigue and a<br />

long lasting durable chassis.<br />

• Weight distribution is calculated to reduce the polar amount of inertia.<br />

• Fuel Cell container located is designed into the chassis that helps create a rigid design with less weight.<br />

• The BR2 Chassis features both LH and RH intrusion bars for driver safety.<br />

• Our Interior paneling design allows for removable panels where necessary for quick access or adjustment.<br />

bolts is the Grip Length. These fine threaded,<br />

12 pt head bolts have a minumum tension<br />

strength of 18,000psi and a maximum shear<br />

strength of 108,000 psi. Thread length is<br />

consistent within each diameter and standard<br />

grips are in 1/8” increments beginning at 1/8”.<br />

Conrod bolts are unquestionably the most important<br />

fasteners in any engine, as they hold the key to the<br />

entire rotating assembly. As you can imagine, critical<br />

joint is where the connecting rod halves mate. The rod<br />

bolts must support the primary tension loads caused<br />

by each rotation of the crankshaft. When the crank<br />

rotates, the big end of the connecting rod essentially<br />

becomes oval shaped and the rod bolts bend. As the<br />

crankshaft continues to rotate, the rod becomes round<br />

again. With alternating tension loads and cyclic<br />

bending of the bolts, it is very importatnt to install<br />

fasteners that are able to exert a clamping force greater<br />

than the load imposed upon the joint (tension).<br />

In addition to utilising a rod bolt with sufficient strength<br />

to withstand the tremendous cyclical strains placed<br />

upon it, it is absolutely imperative that the bolts be<br />

property tightened. The preferred method of monitoring<br />

the correct amount of tension is through use of a<br />

stretch guage. This is far more accurate than a torque<br />

wrench. Moreover, through subsequently checking<br />

the rod bolts length at teardowns, it is possible to<br />

determine if it has been stressed beyond safe limits<br />

and must be replaced.<br />

Using Cylinder Head Studs will make it much easier to assemble<br />

an engine (especially a racing powerplant which must be serviced<br />

frequently and quickly) with the cylinder head and gasket assured of<br />

The quickest and easiest way to transter you racing<br />

gas (and other fluids). Flofast will transfer 5 gallons of<br />

fluid in less than 1 minute. The 15 gallon system will<br />

pump 15 litres into a container or draw 15 litres out of<br />

a container in 2 1/2 minutes. What could be easier?!<br />

• FLO-FAST pumps or draws 5 gallons of fluid in 1 minute. You can’t pour through a funnel as quickly as FLO- FAST<br />

can pump, and its overall design offers the utmost in safety when transferring potentially hazardous or volatile fluids.<br />

• The FLO-FAST system uses a bi-directional pump that allows you to draw fluids into or pump them from the system<br />

container. FLO-FAST is suitable for use with fuels, oil, lubricants, anti-freeze, water, many chemicals, water based<br />

solutions and commercial cleaning fluids. Transfer of fluids is accomplished cleanly, safely and fast. Additional<br />

• The 6-foot-long fill / draw line allows you to access even the most difficult to reach areas.<br />

• The sliding tether line and clamp on the fill/draw line eliminates the need for funnels or two-person operations.<br />

• The sliding tether line on the hose allows you to reposition the tether and clamp on the external fill / draw hose.<br />

• By attaching the clamp at the filler opening, the hose cannot come out of the filler opening. The tether line also<br />

grounds FLO-FAST by keeping the fill / draw hose in contact with the unit that you are pumping or drawing fluid from.<br />

• Simply insert the hose into the opening of container you want to fill and use the squeeze clamp on the tether line<br />

to hold it in place. Then begin rotating the pump handle to dispense any fluid type at 5 gallons per minute.<br />

By merely reversing the pump handle rotation, you are able to draw 5 gallons per minute into your container.<br />

• No more lifting, pouring, spilling, dripping and overflowing. FLO-FAST features a clear 6 feet long fill/draw hose that<br />

allows you to see into the opening of the container you are transferring to, thus eliminating overfill spillage or hazards.<br />

• The manual rotary pump allows a controlled pumping rate and eliminates the need for an external power source or<br />

battery that allows the use of FLO-FAST anywhere! Do not use any electrical device to pump or draw fluid!<br />

• The entire pump system can be removed to fill your 5, 7.5 or 15-gallon jug or transfer fluid to additional jugs. The<br />

absolutely unique design of FLO-FAST allows you to turn the cap by itself and not the entire pump assembly when<br />

removing it from your container. It couldn’t be easier!<br />

• With several containers you get the benefits of a large supply of fluids. You have the choice to transport one or more<br />

5, 7.5 or 15 gallon jugs to a bulk supply source or to the location where you will be dispensing the fluids.<br />

• We offer a transport cart for (2) 5 gallon (2) 7.5 gallon or (1) 15 gallon container.<br />

• Adult Use Only – FLO-FAST is a tool that may be used with potentially hazardous fluids and should only be operated<br />

by an adult.<br />

• Always make sure to attach the static line to the fluid opening or to something that is grounded.<br />

• Tether Line – The tether line and clamp make using FLO-FAST simple and easy but, more importantly, make<br />

dispensing fluid safe. It is imperative that the squeeze clamp be attached to the unit that fluid is being transferred into<br />

• Draining Line – After pumping or drawing fluid is completed, raise the hose to drain any fluid remaining in the hose<br />

back toward the pump.<br />

• Revolutions Per Minute – Peak efficiency of your pump is reached at 65-70 revolutions per minute.

A. The thermal barrier crown coating is applied to the<br />

top of the piston and is designed to reflect heat<br />

into the combustion chamber, therebly increasing<br />

exhaust gas velocity and greatly improving<br />

scavenging potential. The .0015” thick coating can<br />

also assist in extending piston life by decreasing the<br />

rate of thermal transfer.<br />

B. Skirt Coating, This is a “break-in” coating applied to<br />

the skirt of the piston only, designed to show wear.<br />

This coating is a .003” to .0005” thick spray-on dry<br />

film that will help reduce friction and inhibit galling.<br />

No manufacturing allowance is required as this<br />

application is made to wear in to the cylinder wall.<br />

C. Tuff Skirt is a JE Pistons’ trademark coating that is a<br />

lubricating, anti-friction / anti-wear coating applied<br />

to the piston skirt only. Unike our standard Skirt<br />

Coating, Tuff Skirt will not wear and is designed<br />

to withstand many different types of endurance<br />

applications, similar to those commonly found in<br />

NASCAR. Buildup is .0005” per surface and finished<br />

diameter of skirt should include the coating buildup.<br />

D. Top groove hard anodize, this coating has proven<br />

to increase power output by allowing for extremely<br />

tight ring clarances. Available exclusively to toplevel<br />

racing teams until now, this top ring groove<br />

coating creates a hard mating surface which virtually<br />

elimates micro-welding while decreasing ring<br />

groove wear. Buildup is .00025” per surface and<br />

clearance must be added during manufacturing to<br />

accommodate the change.<br />

of .001”. This coating is designed for use in nitromethane<br />

engines such as Top Fuel Drag <strong>Racing</strong> to<br />

endure the corrosive effects of this fuel type. it will<br />

withstand greater temperatures and will not flake,<br />

chip or peel/ This coating does alter the heat transfer<br />

and expansion characteristics of the piston. Consult<br />

the JE Pistons technical depertment for specific<br />

applications. Manufacturing allowances are required<br />

on all surfaces.<br />

H. Oil Shed coating, this coating is applied to the<br />

underside of the underside of the piston. It is<br />

intended to reduce the reciprocating weight by<br />

repelling oil quicker than an untreated part. No<br />

The lap timing system marks the beginning and end of each lap in order to record and display<br />

such as lap gain/loss, where the current lap times and split times are compared to a reference lap.<br />

Payment of accounts must be paid 20th month following purchase. All accounts not paid will be placed on hold until<br />

SPECIAL ORdERS/CUSTOm-BUILT PARTS<br />

We take pride in our handling of special orders and strive to provide the quickest service possible. All special orders<br />

are placed with the manufacturer promptly in order to facilitate a speedy delivery. As a rule,special orders cannot<br />

be cancelled once the order is placed with the manufacturer. All special orders are subject to freight and handling<br />

charges from the manufacturer.<br />

A signed build sheet must accompany all orders for custom built parts or merchandise (pistons,rods,etc)<br />

Special orders require a minimum of 50% non-refundable deposit before the order is placed.<br />

Custom Built parts require a 100% pre-payment before order is placed.<br />

No returns will be accepted on special orders and custom built items.<br />

SHORTAgES/dAmAgE<br />

All shortages/damages must be reported within 48 hours of receipt.<br />

RETURNS<br />

In the event you have product you need to return please refer to the following guidelines:<br />

1. Contact our sales department and advise of the return and reason for return.<br />

All items must be in their original packaging. the product must have been purchased from our company and be<br />

unused,unaltered and unchanged from its original state.<br />

2. Parts to be returned must be packed carefully to avoid any damage during shipping. Please do not deface the<br />

packaging with labels or tape.<br />

Any items returned that do not meet any of the bove criteria may be subject to an additional handling fee<br />

or refusal.<br />

Warranty of parts is governed by the manufacturers policy and may require inspection by a factory representative<br />

before a refund, repair or exchange can be authorised.<br />
