Welcome to 2013 at Raue Center!!!
We are thrilled about our wonderful Spring line-up for the 2012/2013 Season taking place
on Raue Center’s beautiful, state-of-the-art stage! We look forward to some of our favorites
such as American English, Larry Miller, Clay Jenkinson, and Delfeayo Marsalis returning for
another year. We also welcome many new shows like Peter Yarrow, Billy Jonas and the
Billy Jonas Band, and The Gees. We’re ecstatic to announce the band we just booked for
St. Patrick’s Day: 28 Days! They’ll rock you with U2 covers along with some of your other
favorite hits from the 80’s and 90’s. It’s sure to be a great night out for the whole family!
A blossoming variety is in store for the warmer months!
We couldn’t be more proud of the work Williams Street Repertory (WS Rep) has entertained
us with so far during their second full season. Next, WS Rep presents the highly-anticipated
romantic musical Company starring John Michael Coppola from Chicago’s Jersey Boys. They
end their season with an original work entitled Short Stories and Tall Tales of the American
Hero, followed by the acclaimed play Steel Magnolias (just in time for Mother’s Day).
Over the past year and a half Williams Street Repertory has grown beyond our wildest
dreams, raising its level of artistic quality to heights we never imagined, while garnering
universal praise for its work. We highly encourage you to take in a Williams Street Repertory
production during the spring. We promise you will not be disappointed!

about Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts club: Released in June 1967, Rolling Stone called it “the most
important rock & roll album ever made ... by the greatest rock & roll group of all time.” In 2005 the
magazine listed it on “The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.” Sgt. Pepper was a worldwide critical
and commercial success, spending a total of 27 weeks at the top of the UK Album Chart and 15
weeks at number one on the US Billboard 200, and won 4 Grammy awards! It was ranked number
one in the book All Time Top 1,000 Albums.
During the Sgt. Pepper sessions, the group improved upon the quality of their music’s production
while exploring experimental recording techniques. Producer George Martin’s innovative approach

multi-platinum recording artists, Matthew & Gunnar Nelson, relive the music and memories in
their multi-media event, Ricky Nelson Remembered. Back to rock you for a second year, this show
features hit songs like “Hello Mary Lou”, “Travelin’ Man” and “Garden Party”. RNR showcases Ricky
Nelson’s life with never-before-seen interviews from artists he influenced, including Paul McCartney

Ricky Nelson died in a plane crash on his way to perform a New Year’s Eve concert in 1986. His

be married couples and their mutual friend, Robert (played by John Michael Coppola of Chicago’s

The relationships are presented in a series of vignettes, primarily through Bobby’s eyes, so that
we see the less than ideal aspects of commitment. However, it is obvious to the audience that the
committed are happy. Eventually, Bobby learns that while relationships aren’t perfect, they are a

to give up her seat on a city bus. The resulting uproar launched the Civil Rights movement and
changed our country forever.
Walk On: The Story of Rosa Parks weaves together music and drama to tell the story of Rosa Parks
from her childhood in rural Alabama to her famous decision to “sit down and be counted.” The
play dispels myths about Parks and her protest as it paints a portrait of complex woman who had
to find reconciliation within herself in order to become an effective Civil Right leader. Exciting and

Cabaret style series originally started in partnership with Blue Bird Cafe under the guidance of Michael Bush,
modeled after the Grand Ole Opry, and features some of the hottest acts to come out of Nashville today.
A-List singer/songwriters are hitching their wagons together to offer audiences a backstage pass to the
songwriter’s creative process. Bankable Nashville talent such as Maia Sharp, Randy Sharp and Craig

Rushmore Speaks is a new show in observance of the Crystal Lake Public Library’s 100th
anniversary. He will be in costume and character as both Thomas Jefferson and Theodore Roosevelt
with “thoughts on the other guys” – George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
Jenkinson, a Rhodes and Danforth scholar, is cofounder of the modern Chautauqua movement. He
is also a recipient of one of the first National Endowment for the Humanities Awards for Excellence.

then breaks up & so on with numerous band name changes in between. Some names stick, &
some, well, let’s just say, they’re better left forgotten. Their story is not much different. They set
out in the summer of 2006 to change the cover band scene & after numerous performances,
periodic changes in musical direction & several personnel changes; a new direction was finally

the generations and touched the lives of so many. Peter’s talents as a creative artist are

Sage Studio is proud to offer a new six-week advanced program,
designed for teens who are preparing for college theatre program
auditions, spring and summer shows, or just want to get the callback at that next
audition. Students will learn from theatre veterans, focusing on practical techniques
and strategies in key musical theatre performance areas – acting, singing and dance –
to help them stand out from the crowd and become a more well-rounded performer
– a true “triple threat”!
inSTrucTorS: Amanda Flahive (primary instructor) comes to Sage Studio after
appearing this past season with Williams Street Repertory where she was seen in The
Rocky Horror Show and I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change. She holds a BFA in
musical theatre from Millikin University and has appeared in numerous regional and
touring productions across the country. Amanda also served for five seasons as the
associate director of Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre where she taught acting, voice
and stagecraft to thousands of children across the Midwest and has directed and
choreographed youth productions throughout northern Illinois.
Other teachers include lifetime members of The Actors Studio and veterans of
Broadway and Off-Broadway.
Pre-reQuiSiTeS: Students must exhibit an appreciation and aptitude for musical
theatre. Students must also submit a video audition of a song (no more than 3 minutes).

How To make a reservation
In order to make a reservation, please give the closest estimate of the number of
seats that will be needed, complete billing information, phone number and e-mail
address.
• We make every attempt to put group members as close together as possible
when seating; however that is not always possible. We will never assign seats
without group leader approval.
• Once your order has been confirmed, you will be sent an invoice/contract via
e-mail, unless another method is specified.
• All calls and e-mails will be returned the same day when made Monday through
Friday, between 12:00PM-4:00PM.
Payment information
• A nonrefundable deposit of one half of the balance is due approximately four
weeks after the order is placed. Final payment is due six weeks prior to the
performance date depending on the date the order is placed.
• You have until the final balance due date to decrease numbers. If your numbers
fall beneath the group minimum, you will have to pay the full price for the tickets
plus a handling fee per ticket; we will apply your first deposit to this balance.
• You may add group tickets based on availability.
• You may pay your balance with one company check (we cannot accept single
payment from group members). We also accept most major credit cards.
• There are no refunds or exchanges

TickeT excHange Only subscribers may exchange their ticket(s) for another
Raue Center performance within the season. Simply present your ticket(s) to the Box
Office at least one business day before the purchased performance to select a new
performance. If the new performance has a higher ticket price, you are responsible
for the difference. If it has a lower ticket price, the difference is non-refundable. You
can also exchange your ticket(s) for a tax-deductable contribution to our Annual Giving
Program. Ticket exchanges are not allowed after the performance has occurred.
canceLed PerformanceS If a performance is canceled, return your ticket(s)
to the Box Office for a full refund or exchange them towards another Raue Center
performance. Refunds are offered for cancelled performances only.
reScHeduLed PerformanceS If a performance is rescheduled, your
ticket(s) will be valid for the new performance date. Refunds are not applicable to
rescheduled performances.
LoST TickeTS If tickets are lost, our Box Office can re-issue them for $2 fee per
ticket.
SPeciaL SeaTing and Hearing deviceS Our theatre is wheelchair
accessible and we offer special seating arrangements and hearing devices for
patrons with disabilities. Call or visit our Box Office prior to the performance to make
arrangements.
LaTe SeaTing Due to the configuration of our theatre and to avoid disturbing
other patrons, after a performance starts, we may not be able to seat you immediately
upon arrival. House staff will seat latecomers at the first appropriate pause in the
program.
Large BagS, PurSeS and BackPackS We do not allow large bags, purses
or backpacks into the building for security purposes. Ushers will ask you to leave such
items in your vehicles. All bags may be subject to search.
food and BeverageS A variety of food and beverages are available for
purchase in the lobby but are not allowed into the theatre. Outside food and
beverages are not permitted in either location.

emergency PHone numBer The house staff will have access to a phone
at all times during performances. If you must be reached in the case of an emergency,
the caller must provide your name and seat location (level, section, row and seat
number). An usher will find and notify you of the call. In case of emergency call
815.356.9212.
PuBLic TranSPorTaTion The theatre is located at 26 N. Williams Street in
Crystal Lake. It is easily reached by public transportation—the Metra Northwest line stops
less than two blocks north of the theatre—or by car.
Parking 1,000 spaces of free parking exist within three blocks of Raue Center. The
Metra lots and Home State Bank lot are free in the evening. Metra permit parking and
daily fee lots are free on evenings and weekends. Just added—a new free parking lot
on Grant Street! (Located in back of Raue Center, next to Home State Bank) In addition,
handicapped parking is available on Williams Street and in the Brink Street parking lot
adjacent to Raue Center.

Do you need directions or dining suggestions or have special needs? Contact the Box

Bad WeaTHer PoLicy The show always goes on at Raue Center. We do not cancel
or reschedule performances due to inclement weather, nor can we offer refunds.

gifT cerTificaTeS Looking for a great gift idea? Give the gift of music, laughter and
entertainment with our gift certificates! Certificates come in any denomination, can be
mailed anywhere in the world and are available through the Box Office. Certificates can
only be redeemed at our Box Office and cannot be used for special events or fundraisers.

Bill Dwyer and I first talked about the possibilities of starting a repertory company in the
car after my first interview. As the car winded through the streets of Crystal Lake, I was
struck by Bill’s passion and eloquence. When we arrived at Susen and Jim Berg’s house
for yet another round of interviews (there were a lot of ineterviews), I was greeted
with, “So, did he talk to you about the theater company idea?” I was hooked. Almost
immediately, Bob Blazier chimed in, “Don’t forget Jazz!” The best part of the Raue’s
programming is that it is varied and a theatre company would compliment the other art
forms tremendously. It was wonderful to hear founding board members encouraging
this opportunity.
When Bill passed away on June 8, 2011 the community felt a loss and moreover the
sense of loss at the Raue was unbearable. Fortunately we had wonderful leaders like
Paula Dorion Gray and Matthew Turk who picked up the mantle of the institution and
ran with it.
I am continuously impressed with the board’s passion for building Raue Center into
an institution that will serve generations to come. Truly. It is rare—this kind of passion.
Not since my time with Lloyd Richards and Jim Houghton, founders at the O’Neill and
at Signature Theater respectively, had I met such energized people. It’s true. Great
institutions need great energy, money – but most importantly—PASSION.
Our little main street theater company is doing something that most established theater
companies are not: we are growing hand in hand with our community. This growth
has inspired a wonderful partnership with the City of Crystal Lake and we consider
ourselves lucky.
We are working hard. We are building an institution. We are proud to be your theater.
We encourage you to come and join us for a night of challenging theater. To participate.
But most importantly, to expand your horizons through the arts. Please join us on this
journey and get involved with this great regional theatre company.
