in a timely fashion are due to:
– Delays in physicians writing the orders
– Delays in the order getting placed into the
computer system
– Delays in the pick up and delivery of the blood
from the blood bank
– The presence of alloantibodies on the T&S
• Can be prevented if pre-operative testing is done and
good communication is kept with the blood bank
