108
Yellow crystals or powder. Melting point:
approximately 86°C. Used as a fungicide. If
involved in a fire, may explode. Toxic if
swallowed, by skin contact or dust inhalation.
Also refer to Addendum I to Appendix 2 or
Chapter 2.6 of 10th revised edition of the UN
Recommendations.
Non-flammable brown gas with a perceptible
odour (pungent). Highly toxic. Supports
combustion. Corrosive in the presence of
water. Gas denser than air (1.6) - see note 9.
Boiling point: 21°C. Toxic by inhalation, with
delayed effect, similar to phosgene. May
cause fire on contact with organic materials
such as sawdust or cotton.
4.1 6.1 I SP28 3.8.4.1 Explosive and sensitive to friction in the dry
state. May form extremely sensitive
compounds with heavy metals or their salts.
Toxic if swallowed or by skin contact. Refuse
for shipment damaged or leaking
receptacles. Fire-fighting: wear selfcontained
breathing apparatus and complete
protective clothing.
6.1 II or III 3WE SP184 3.8.6
RT7
Substance when pure consists of yellow
crystals. Used as wood preservative. Slightly
soluble in water, usually dissolved in
flammable liquid. May form extremely
sensitive compounds with heavy metals or
their salts. Toxic if swallowed or by skin
contact. Refuse for shipment damaged or
leaking receptacles. Dinitrophenol, dry or
insufficiently wetted, is an explosive.
Dinitrophenol, wetted with not less than 15%
water, is a flammable solid.
Note: RT1 also applies if dissolved in a
flammable liquid.
4.1 6.1 I SP28 3.8.4.1 Substance when pure consists of yellow
crystals. Slightly soluble in water. May form
extremely sensitive compounds with heavy
metals or their salts. Toxic if swallowed or by
skin contact. Refuse for shipment damaged
or leaking receptacles. Fire-fighting: wear
self-contained breathing apparatus and
complete protective clothing. Dinitrophenol,
dry or insufficiently wetted, is entered in
Class 1 as an explosive. Dinitrophenol,
solution in water or flammable liquid, is
entered in Class 6.1 as a toxic substance.
Explosive when dry. May form extremely
sensitive compounds with heavy metals or
their salts. Harmful if swallowed or by skin
contact, refuse for shipment damaged or
leaking receptacles. Fire-fighting: wear selfcontained
breathing apparatus and complete
protective clothing.
