The Principal gave a prospectus of the college <strong>to</strong><br />

this boy. When he came back he presented it <strong>to</strong> his<br />

grandfather who gave it <strong>to</strong> tho good man. This man<br />

saw the required outfits and tried <strong>to</strong> buy them for the<br />

boy without further request. On the reopening day, the<br />

good friend of the boy's grandfather, gave the boy rchool-<br />

fees and extra amount as the boy's own money for<br />

emergent canes. So well and so truthful was this man<br />

that he catered for the boy for the five golden years with<br />

out owing the boy any grudge.<br />

At the end of the five golden years, the boy <strong>to</strong>ok<br />

his cnntnb, and being guided by Providencr, he was able<br />

<strong>to</strong> snatch grade one. The boy's benefac<strong>to</strong>r was so pleased<br />

that be asked tha boy <strong>to</strong> find admission in<strong>to</strong> a University<br />

where he was <strong>to</strong> do Doc<strong>to</strong>rate degree. The boy, with out<br />

any hesitation, wrote an application <strong>to</strong> Columbia Univer-<br />

sity. The application waa favourably replied. All the<br />

time, the boy did not see those three gentlemen who<br />

had refused him help. The honourable gentlemen heard<br />

that the boy had been catered for by his grandfather's<br />

' friend and, that the boy had got his cantab, but they<br />

did not hear tbrt the boy had started <strong>to</strong> look for admi-<br />

ssion in<strong>to</strong> a University. You can think what was the<br />

influence of this news <strong>to</strong> those gentlemen. Infact they wero<br />

at the most agnosing mood for they began <strong>to</strong> think<br />

what would be the boy's feeling about their rhame1:rs<br />

ingratitude <strong>to</strong> the boy's dead father.<br />

They began <strong>to</strong> wrde letters <strong>to</strong> the boy asking the boy<br />

<strong>to</strong> forgive them for their irresponsible attitude <strong>to</strong>wards him.<br />

The boy did not even reply <strong>to</strong> any of those foolish letters.<br />

CHAPTER ELEVEN<br />

The Boy's University Education.<br />

As the boy waa fully ofired admission in<strong>to</strong> a Uni-<br />

versity, his benefac<strong>to</strong>r asked him whether he would like<br />

it if many people (including the bog's three honounblo<br />

uncles) were invited <strong>to</strong> the boys send-off ceremony. The<br />

boy replied that since hi: uncles had deed rooted hatred<br />
