in Dogpatch
Want to walk through history? On the first Sunday of every month at 11 a.m.
Potrero Hillers Sina Ghaemmaghami and Natalie Wisniewski meet fellow amateur
historians at the corner of 18th and Tennessee streets for a free walking tour of
Dogpatch. The tour introduces newcomers and visitors – and even long-time
residents – to the neighborhood’s past. See the Victorian Pelton workers’ cottages,
built from blueprints published in local newspapers in the 1880s; find out
where the lost neighborhood of Irish Hill was located; and learn about the roots
of San Francisco’s pornography industry. The tour is one of more than 60 free
neighborhood walks given through San Francisco City Guides, a project of the San
Francisco Public Library. Find out more at www.sfcityguides.org, or just come to
the next tour!
