manufacture fly tying materials for 

Lagartun Ltd. Over a decade ago, 

Lagartun manufactured a series 

of tinsels for fly tying. What sets 

Lagartun apart from the rest is our 

approach of design and vision from 

the ground up. Before the Lagartun 

brand tinsel, fly tying tinsel 

used cotton or acetate cores. Both 

have significant drawbacks when it 

comes to fly tying. Exceeding the 

standards set by the passementerie 

industry in France, Lagartun 

manufactured their tinsel with 

“Extra strong” core, which will not 

stretch or break during tying and 

fishing. 

When you pick up a spool of 

Lagartun Tinsel, the first thing you 

will notice is that the tinsel is presented 

with precision parallel winding. 

All windings were placed one 

after another without any overlap 

irrespective of the size of the tinsel 

being spooled. With a quick 

glance you can see the defect free 

high quality material. Lagartun 

puts great emphasis on quality and 

presentation. During production, 

there are no shortcuts. Every spool 

is examined for damaged material 

and knots, and other irregularities. 

This will insure the final product 

will reach the hands of the customer 

in perfect condition.
