Lochwinnoch Art Group
January promises to be a busy month
for the Group. Our fortnightly,
Monday meetings in the Bar Lounge
of the McKillop Institute, 7.30pm -
9.30pm, are planned for the 17th and
31st of the month.
We hope that the snow and ice will not
cause either of our meetings
to be cancelled this month, as
happened on the 6th December, 2010,
when the McKillop Institute was
closed owing to the adverse weather
conditions.
In addition we have been invited to
hold an Exhibition of our work in
the Castle Semple Visitor Centre,
down at the loch. "Art in the Park"
has become an annual event for us and
we are very grateful to the
staff of Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park
for this opportunity. All the
paintings will be original work and
will be for sale. The exhibition
will run from Friday 21st January until
Tuesday 8th February.
We extend an invitation to all
Chatterbox readers to join us at the
Exhibition Preview on Thursday 20th,
7 - 8.30pm, when you can meet the
artists.
Chat from the Chair
As with everything else, the
Community Council’s activities have
been hampered by the snow – there
was a time I’d have had the skis out to
get to the shops, but now I’m suffering
like everyone else! We moved our
December meeting from the Bowling
Club to the Brown Bull at the last
minute for easier access. My apologies
to the Bowling Club, and particularly
the members who turned out to warm
the place up and let us in on a pretty
cold and snowy night. Also my thanks
to the pub for letting us use their
restaurant for the meeting.
However, only four of us and one
member of the public braved the
night.
As you will have noticed, Chatterbox
was late, another victim of the
weather, as the printers were not all
able to get to work every day and
also suffered from paper deliveries
not getting through.
The Community Council is still very
concerned by the council’s plans for
the Library and Annexe, and is
working with the action group to
confound these.
I hope you all had a good Christmas
and wish you a happy and successful
2011.
We still don’t have a permanent
meeting venue, but are hoping to

keep to the first Tuesday of each
month. The next meeting will be on
Tuesday 1st February but we don’t
know where yet! Everyone is welcome
to attend – the venue will be
publicised once it has been agreed.
