The score was tied 8-8 against Aviano with two outs, bottom
of the sixth, and bases loaded when Vicenza High School junior
Christian Vallone stepped up to the plate. What happened next
was a rarity. Vallone lashed the first pitch he saw into right field,
scoring Peter Perry from third base, ending the game with a
walk-off win for Vicenza.
VHS boys baseball Coach Mark Wilson, now in his third
year with the team, said, “This is jus the kind of victory we
needed. Hopefully the team can build on this.”
The win was due to timely hitting from Perry, Vallone,
Will Besuden and others. Jeremy Huller got the victory on the
mound pitching 3 innings in relief of Perry.
