which a specific patient may have sensitivities
are not in a particular dentifrice is also
necessary.
Many dentifrices also now offer multiple
benefits in one and although fluoride
dentifrices were the standard, desirable
additional therapeutic benefits are now
available - such as a whitening benefit, antiplaque
and anti-gingivitis claims, anti-tartar
claims and anti-sensitivity claims, plaque
and gingivitis reductions. Assessing claims,
ingredients, and efficacy, as well as what is
needed and what the patient wants are key
considerations in recommending dentifrices.
