Travis, (2nd) CO F, 5th Regt, TN Inf. Shows on Hospital rolls "Floyd House and Ocmulgee Hospitals,<br />
Macon GA" Nov 6, 1863 as "Convalescent". Dismissed and returned to duty,Nov 7, 1863. He was<br />
taken prisoner at Missionary Ridge, Nov 25, 1863 and sent to Rock Island, Ill, Dec 11 1863. Transferred<br />
<strong>for</strong> exchange Mar 6, 1865.<br />
He inherited 100 acres of land from his father in Carrol CO., TN. His wife divorced him <strong>for</strong> nonsupport.<br />
He bummed around among relatives. In 1900 he is living a a boarder in Pilot Grove, Grayson<br />
CO, TX, where he had 9 nieces and nephews and three brothers. They were his support.<br />
Relatives called him "Uncle K" or "K". Family tradition has it that he used his small CSA Pension to<br />
travel from one relative to the next. He would move in uninvited and stay until they ran him off. He<br />
would not contribute to the household with funds or chores.<br />
One relative quoted" K was obnoxious, and lazy and everybody gre tired of feeding him and listening<br />
to his boresome chatter. He was a big talker and annoying. "<br />
Another niece said " I remember Uncle K. He had a twitch in his eyes and face when talking and he<br />
