Honors at<br />
Commencement<br />
Undergraduate degree candidates who have<br />
completed at least sixty graded undergraduate<br />
hours at <strong>Loyola</strong> <strong>Marymount</strong> <strong>University</strong> and<br />
whose cumulative grade point averages are<br />
3.50 or higher (as of February 11, <strong>2005</strong>), are<br />
denoted with the proclamation “with honors” as<br />
their names are called in the Commencement<br />
ceremony. The <strong>University</strong> further distinguishes<br />
between three levels of honors by specific<br />
grade point averages: cum laude (with honors)<br />
for 3.50 or higher, magna cum laude (with<br />
great honors) for 3.70 or higher, and summa<br />
cum laude (with highest honors) for 3.90 or<br />
higher. These specific honors are based on<br />
graduates’ actual final grade point averages<br />
and are printed on their diplomas. Those<br />
graduates listed under Honors Received have<br />
been awarded degrees prior to May <strong>2005</strong> and<br />
are now participating in the Commencement<br />
ceremony. They have already received their<br />
final grade point averages, and therefore,<br />
the honors listed for them reflect their actual<br />
diploma honors. The candidates for graduation<br />
listed under Honors Pending do not yet have<br />
a final cumulative grade point average as of<br />
the Commencement ceremony date, and the<br />
honors listed for them are based on their earlier<br />
coursework. The honors printed on their<br />
diplomas may differ from those noted here.<br />
