Natives & Inuit still have limited access<br />
to appropriate resources and services<br />
to respond to the challenges faced by<br />
the increase in social problems. The<br />
First <strong>Nation</strong>s &Inuit Suicide Prevention<br />
Association of Quebec & Labrador<br />
Dialogue for Life Conference<br />
addresses the needs of Native and<br />
Inuit interveners because they are the<br />
front line workers that are directly<br />
involved in helping and supporting their<br />
people.<br />
Our objective is to bring people and<br />
organizations concerned and involved<br />
with the prevalence of suicide and<br />
other self-destructive behaviors such<br />
as violence, abuse and addictions in<br />
Native and Inuit communities. We<br />
encourage the sharing of community<br />
initiatives and experiences in suicide<br />
prevention and intervention.<br />
Our annual gathering was advertised in<br />
the <strong>Nation</strong> and because of this, we are<br />
happy to announce that not only did we<br />
welcome over <strong>20</strong>0 Cree participants,<br />
but each Cree community was<br />
represented.<br />
