Each year the president has an annual
weekend getaway. This year it went
like this: where do we go (Mexico), what
do we do (shop and enjoy libations), is it
affordable (you bet) and can our husband,
family and friends come along (yep!). Well,
all that happened at this past October’s getaway.
We all headed out to the wide open
sea on Carnival Cruise to Ensenada. With 24 of us on board, you
can imagine the trouble we all got into! We had a great time! See
the photos. Thanks to Trudy Allen for her support and hard work.
Our last board meeting was quick, to the point, and challenging
too! We are proud to say that a donation from SBYCW
of $10,000 has just been gifted to support the Youth Sailing
Foundation for upcoming youth sailing scholarships. As you
know, the SBYCW support educational programs and opportunities
for youth, including the economically disadvantaged, in
sailing and seamanship.
You should have your Woman of the Year form that was
emailed recently (forms are at the front desk and web site).
Please, nominate a woman who has made an outstanding contribution
to the SBYCW and/or the Yacht Club for the prestigious
Lee McFarland Memorial Trophy. She must be a SBYCW
member, not a current president, and never received the trophy
in the past. Deadline for nominations is Thursday, January 5.
The Woman of the Year will be announced at the Installation
Santa Barbara Yacht Club Women

I wish to thank the 2011 SBYCW executive officers, committee
board members, and members at large for an outstanding
year. You all made a difference with your hard work and the club
continues to be great through your volunteerism. So much was
accomplished in just one year it makes me believe that this year
is not an end of an amazing year but the continuation of many
amazing years to follow. I am proud to have been your president
and so blessed to have the team I had. You all made me look
good (no, not the photos). I sincerely thank you!
