Variations on LANGHAM
Bruce Neswick for organ duo
This is an incredible piece for organ duo, based on the solemn,
dark, and poignant tune LANGHAM by Geoffrey Shaw. It’s not easy
(if you've ever heard Neswick’s improvisations, you understand
why), and it’s not short, but you won’t find a better or more exciting
piece to work on with another good organist. Composed
in five movements: a fiery Prelude, Chorale, Scherzo, a tender
Aria, and ending with a Toccata. A significant addition to the
repertory for organ duet, and it may even be effectively performed
on two-manual instruments. Oblong format.

Invocation and Dance
Alfred V. Fedak New!
This work is a brief diptych for organ, strings, and percussion
(timpani and tambourine). The score is inscribed with a quotation
from Psalm 30.11: “Thou hast turned my laments into
dancing.” As its name implies, the first movement, Invocation,
is meant as a wordless prayer invoking the presence of the unseen
God. Movement two, Dance, opens with the organist
dancing on the pedal keyboard in a virtuosic solo for the feet
alone. Dance rhythms and shifting meters predominate as the
dance grows ever more animated until its final, ecstatic
fortissimo outburst. (Score and parts may also be rented.)
