Excited, I began planning my ascent.
Once on my way though,
The maps always led to unmarked cliffs,
Gaping crevasses.
Routes frequently doubled back.
Continuing the effort,
I eventually lost my crampons
And pitons
And line.
Now my pack is lighter
And I don’t look much at the maps.
A scouring wind sings of deep peace.
