The book: Asian Palate
Asian Palate highlights ten major Asian cities and their
uniquely different dining cultures making room for wine.
Each city’s local dining and drinking culture is explored
as well as each cuisine’s key flavours, condiments and ingredients.
The book offers suggestions on the best wines
to accompany both informal, family-style meals as well as
more formal, banquet-style occasions. The ten cities covered
in this book includes Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing,
Taipei, Tokyo, Seoul, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore
and Mumbai.
Jeannie believes defining and understanding the Asian
palate is a journey and dialogue rather than a fixed
definition. While the American or European palates are
better understood, the Asian palate is still being defined.
Jeannie’s book is a step towards exploring this dialogue in the challenging world of Asian food and wine pairing. Since
its publication, Asian Palate has received much praise from local and international media.
