Donald Dinsmore will go<br />
on trial for a second time,<br />
charged with the murder of<br />

his former in-laws, Henry<br />
Beamish, 64, and his wife,<br />
Frances, 62, in their home on<br />
Waterman Road, Vassar.<br />
The trial, originally scheduled<br />
to run five days, started<br />
April 25. It went to the jury<br />
last Wednesday, May 3,<br />
after almost seven full days<br />
of testimony.<br />

shotgun seized from Dinsmore<br />
at the time of his<br />
arrest. A second expert<br />
linked the same shells to a<br />
reloader found at or near the<br />
defendant's home shortly<br />
after his arrest.<br />
Defense attorney C.<br />
Michael Gorte of Bay City<br />
presented an alibi defense,<br />
that his client was elsewhere<br />
at the time of the shootings.<br />
Among defense witnesses<br />
were Dinsmore's mother<br />
and brother, who testified<br />
May 2 that the gun allegedly<br />
used was not available to the<br />
defendant at the time of the<br />
shooting.<br />
Dinsmore has been held in<br />
the county jail following his<br />
arrest Sept. 25. Following<br />
declaration of the mistrial,<br />
Judge Clements rejected a<br />
defense motion for setting of<br />
reasonable bond and remanded<br />
Dinsmore to the<br />
county jail to await the Aug.<br />
22 trial.<br />
Board may seek federal<br />
funds for new building<br />

federal funds to build a<br />
building to house the county<br />
Cooperative Extension Serv-<br />
Zawilinski added to<br />
ice and some otner county<br />
departments - provided<br />
such funds become available.<br />
The board Tuesday dis-<br />
sales staff at Ouvry's<br />
Two changes have been<br />
announced by Aime Ouvry,<br />
of Ouvry Chevrolet-Olds,<br />
Inc., of Cass City.<br />
The first is the promotion<br />
of Marty Zawilinski to the<br />
firm's sales staff. Zawilinski<br />
moves to the sales department<br />
from the parts department.<br />
Ouvry said that the<br />
change will enable the com-<br />
pany to offer increased sales<br />
service by a representative<br />
well grounded in the fundamentals<br />
of the automotive<br />
business.<br />

the parts department will be<br />
Mark Williams of Caro.<br />

Congress approving new<br />
public works funds. A previous<br />
allocation of funds is<br />
paying for the new county<br />
animal shelter now under<br />
construction.<br />
Though no formal decision<br />
was made, according to<br />
board Chairman Maynard<br />
McConkey, commissioners<br />
will probably later authorize<br />
its building and grounds<br />
committee to hire an architect<br />
to study the space needs<br />
of the departments that<br />
would use the new building<br />
and then prepare some preliminary<br />
plans.<br />
If the federal funds become<br />
available, the plans<br />
could be submitted with an<br />
application for the money.<br />
The board authorized expenditure<br />
of $3,095 for installation<br />
of a fire evacuation<br />
door and exhaust fan over it<br />
at the county jail. Completion<br />
of carpeting the health<br />
department offices was<br />
authorized at a cost of $3,588.<br />
Hiring of a part-time electrical<br />
inspector to replace<br />
one who left was authorized<br />
at $5.27 per hour. Also<br />
okayed was hiring of a parttime<br />
mechanic for the sheriff's<br />
department at $5 per<br />
hour to take over for a<br />
mechanic-deputy who presently<br />
is hospitalized.<br />
The board met with Probate<br />
Judge W. Wallace Kent<br />
Jr. and Opal Hunter, Probate<br />
Court juvenile worker,<br />
to discuss the juvenile justice<br />
program.<br />
