River information
The Avon is managed by the Avon Navigation Trust and the Severn
is managed by the Canal and River Trust. Both organisations require
boaters to purchase a license for the use of the river which pays for
the general upkeep of the navigation and locks.

Before venturing out on the river, it is advisable to consider water
levels. The river level is normally measured as a height above a
normal summer level (NSL).
The Avon Navigation Trust has easy to read gauges along the river
including one here at the marina;
RED Danger - stop and moor your boat.
ORANGE Increased current, proceed with caution.
GREEN Normal navigable level.
The ultimate responsibility for deciding whether to take a boat out lies with
the skipper but the gauges should help you make an informed decision.

on the Avon Navigation Trust’s website, and by following the link on
our website to the Environment Agency’s own river gauge.
