Scientific Activity Research Activity I am interested in Statistical Mechanics and Critical Phenomena, and their relations with combinatorics and graph theory. At the moment I am working on the Abelian Sandpile Model both theoretically and numerically. Theoretically I worked on a closed formula to describe the identity of the model in some particular geometries; now I am searching for the classification and understanding of particular patterns which emerge in the identity configuration and as a result of particular procedures, finally I am trying to generalize the core-hypothesis on which the model is based. Numerically I am exploring regimes in which the model presents non-trivial features and trying to speed up the creation of some particular patterns. Recently I worked on possible applications of the Abelian Sandpile Model to the sampling of particular statistical physics models which are closely related to it (as shown by Dhar and Majumdar in Physica A185 1992).
