111 KM
2012
graphite drawing on a wall
I converted the distance between Tallinn and my summerhouse into a 111 km long line. I drew the line with a
graphite stick on a six meter long wall walking back and forth. Always on a stressful time I get the longing for my
summerhouse. I start to miss the peaceful and balanced state of mind I enter while being there. I do not have
enough time to be there as much as I would like to, I have to stay in Tallinn and make art. But making this piece, I
did not have to run away to countryside, I escaped into work.

HOUSES
2011
lead, ~ 5x5x1 cm
These are series of medals I made for my friends and family about important houses in their lives. Medal art has
some qualities that I value in art in general. By fitting in palm, medals can reach very close to a person. Also, medals
are usually addressed to someone, they have clear audience. In this work, medals keep memory of a house
that has been important in some point in their life, but has moved on the background. Lead gives a small item
suprisingly heavy weight.

ALL THE HOUSES I HAVE SLEPT IN
2012
plaster, wooden box
models 4x4x4 - 10x10x20 cm, box50x50x30 cm
It is growing piece of art that consist of 98 plaster models at the moment. I have made a model of every house I
have slept in. They are made by memory, so some of them are more abstract, some more detailed.

HOME = MATCHBOX
2009
installation consisting of 9594 matchboxes, 6X6m
Ones home is always important - it does not matter if it is your grandfathers farm between forests and swamps
or a small apartment in a blockhouse. It is just odd to think that so big feelings towards your home can fit into so
small room, divided from others only by a thin wall. Õismägi is a Soviet district built with great idealism. By its
concept it should be comfotable and nice to live there. Even its form, mandala-like circle, should give the feeling
like living in a beehive. In reality it is just another dysfunctional suburb. In my installation I built Õismäe up home
by home, so that one home equals one matchbox.

FOR RITTER
2012
graphite on paper, foto, 30X20cm, 16lk
I am going to work as assistant for an Austrian artist Georg Ritter in Autumn. He and his work work is completely
unknown for me. All that I know about him is that he is doing gigantic realistic drawings. What is the background
of these images and what motivates him to work is mystery for me. I also enjoy drawing, but I have had hard time
to convince myself to depict anything and I have not found a way to use drawing in my artwork. To find a common
ground with my future mentor I did this work. I searched out all the pencils I had, sharpened them and drew them
all til the end into a notebook.

HOMAGE TO JAAN TOOMIKULE
2009
digital print 110X70 cm
In Jaan Toomik´s video “Father and Son” I´m attracted by the connection between father and son. It seems that
worst thing that could happen, is that father would fall while skating on ice, maybe even fall through the ice, but
the sons singing keeps him on his feet. I don´t have a “son”, somebody to take care of and to be responsible for
and who would keep me on the track. On the other hand, I have always felt loved and taken care of by my friends
and family. But is it enough to keep me on my feet on thin ice in Spring?

IT´S INTERESTING HERE TOO - SCULPTURE FAMILIARISATION DINNERS
with an artist group SUHE
2010
As a part of the Tallinn European Capital of Culture 2011 warm-up programme “52 Suprises and Ideas” we organ-
ised three events to introduce Estonian contemporary sculpture. We made edible models of nine sculptures and
invited the authors and art critics to talk about those works to the wider audience. While discussing over artwork it
was also possible to taste it. Our aim was to make the relationship between artists, audience and artpieces more
comfortable and enjoyable.
