CHANGES
General
This document supersedes the January 2012 edition.
DET NORSKE VERITAS AS
Rules for Ships, July 2012
Pt.5 Ch.11 Changes – Page 3
Text affected by the main changes in this edition is highlighted in red colour. However, if the changes involve
a whole chapter, section or sub-section, normally only the title will be in red colour.
Main changes coming into force 1 July 2012
• Sec.2 Requirements for Carriage of Dangerous Goods in Various Types of Cargo Spaces
— Table B1: The text in column 1 of the table brought in line with the revised Table 19.3 in SOLAS, adopted
by Res. MSC.269(85).
— Table B2: The text in column 1 of the table brought in line with the revised Table 19.3 in SOLAS, adopted
by Res. MSC.269(85).
— B1104 “Separation of cargo holds from oil tanks”: It appeared to be so that DNV was the only class society
that did not allow cargo holds to have other tanks than “double bottom tanks” intended for fuel oil adjacent
to cargo holds. Due to this it was decided to bring the rules back to how they were in 2006.
— Table D1: Ammonium nitrate UN 1942 and for Ammonium nitrate based fertilizers, Type A UN 2067: the
“special requirements” referred to have been changed for these two substances.
— Ferrophoshporus: Typo in column 10: B502 shall be B503.
— Table D1: inserted footnote with reference to SOLAS.
Corrections and Clarifications
In addition to the above stated rule requirements, a number of detected errors, corrections and clarifications
have been made in the existing rule text.
