LAND RAIDERS
Though its ancient origins lie shrouded by the mists of time,
the Land Raider remains the single most destructive and
versatile tank at the Blood Angels' command. Inside its
bonded ceramite and adamantium hull, the Land Raider has
a sealed-environment transport capacity sufficient for a full
ten-man squad of Space Marines, their field supplies,
communications gear, munitions and medical facilities.
Over the centuries, differing Land Raider configurations
have been accepted into the Blood Angels armoury. Most of
these variations on the basic Land Raider design have fallen
out of favour with the Blood Angels, having proved too
temperamental or unsuitable for the Blood Angels' way of
war, but two: the Land Raider Crusader and Land Raider
Redeemer, have been embraced w ith all the enthusiasm
of the original design. The Land Raider Crusader's murderous
hurricane bolters and the fury of the Redeemer's flamestorm
cannons are well-loved by the Blood Angels - few Space
Marines appreciate the finer tactical uses of short range
firepower more than the Scions of Sanguinius.
There is only one shortcoming that the Blood Angels have
been able to identify with the Land Raider design - try as
they might, the Chapter's Techmarines cannot find a way
to boost, overcharge or otherwise improve its engines.
Unable to customise the Land Raider so it can keep pace
with the Chapter's Lucifer-powered Rhinos, the Blood Angels
use Thunderhawk Transporters to drop them directly into the
heart of the battle, trusting to the tank's sturdy nature to
allow a safe landing for it and its crew This a risky ploy, to
be sure, but one that swiftly proves its worth when the Land
Raider's formidable armament opens up against an illdefended
enemy position.
TRANSPORT: Land Raiders have a transport capacity
of ten models. Land Raider Crusaders have a transport
capacity of sixteen models. Land Raider Redeemers have
a transport capacity of twelve models.
Fire Points: None.
Access Points: A Land Raider has one access point on each
side of the hull and one at its front.
SPECIAL RULES:
Deep Strike. A unit that Deep Strikes via a Land Raider
cannot assault in the turn it arrives.
Power of the Machine Spirit: The vehicle can fire one
more weapon than would normally be permitted. In
addition, this weapon can be fired at a different target unit
to any other weapons, subject to the normal rules for
shooting. Therefore, a vehicle that has moved at combat
speed can fire two weapons, and a vehicle that has either
moved at cruising speed, or has suffered a 'Crew Stunned'
or 'Crew Shaken' result can fire a single weapon.
Assault Vehicle: Models disembarking from any access
point on a Land Raider can launch an assault on the turn
they do so. Note that a unit that Deep Strikes within a Land
Raider cannot assault in the turn it arrives.
