Who is an <strong>International</strong> Applicant?<br />
An international applicant is one who is not a United States citizen, permanent resident or applicant for<br />
permanent residency in the United States, does not qualify for residency under Senate Bill 1528 and has<br />
never attended <strong>Texas</strong> A&M University as a degree-seeking student. An applicant who is in the United<br />
States on a qualifying visa (does not include F, J or B visa types) may establish residency and be eligible to<br />
pay in-state tuition and fees; however, he/she should submit the international application and follow all<br />
international requirements and deadlines.<br />
<strong>International</strong> Freshman<br />
All documents must be received by the appropriate closing date.<br />
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS<br />
Please send us:<br />
1. A completed Apply<strong>Texas</strong> Application—Apply online at www.applytexas.org. The name on the<br />
application should match the passport or birth certificate.<br />
2. Essay Topics A and B—Applicants are required to complete Essays A and B and are strongly<br />
encouraged to complete Essay C.<br />
3. A nonrefundable $90 application fee ($75 application fee through Summer 2012)—Make checks/<br />
money orders payable to <strong>Texas</strong> A&M University. <strong>International</strong> applicants are not eligible for fee<br />
waivers.<br />
4. Official high school transcripts from all high schools attended with an original signature of a<br />
school official or an original school seal—If any transcripts are in a language other than English,<br />
an official translation from a recognized translator or a translation verified by a United States<br />
Embassy or Consulate must accompany the native language transcript. For students enrolled in<br />
the U.S., we will accept copies of official transcripts from other countries provided the copies are<br />
verified by the U.S. institution the applicant is currently attending. Faxed and/or notarized copies<br />
will not be accepted.<br />
5. Official SAT or ACT scores—with the writing component. The highest test score with writing<br />
component from one test date will be used. Scores should be sent directly from the testing agency.<br />
The <strong>Texas</strong> A&M University SAT code is 6003, and the ACT code is 4198.<br />
6. Proof of English proficiency—Applicants whose native language is not English are required to<br />
submit proof of English proficiency, which is satisfied by: a minimum Test of English as a Foreign<br />
Language (TOEFL) score of 550 p-BT and 80 i-BT or higher, an SAT Critical Reading score of<br />
500, an ACT English score of 21, an <strong>International</strong> English Language Testing System (IELTS)<br />
score of a 6.0 overall band, or completing all four years in a high school within the U.S. The<br />
<strong>Texas</strong> A&M University TOEFL reporting code is 6003. Visit admissions.tamu.<strong>edu</strong> for information<br />
regarding test score submission. Additional English testing may be required after admission and<br />
before enrollment.<br />
7. State of <strong>Texas</strong> Uniform Admission Policy—Applicants graduating from a high school in the<br />
United States must meet the State of <strong>Texas</strong> Uniform Admission Policy. Please visit<br />
admissions.tamu.<strong>edu</strong>/freshmen/gettingin/texasUAP.aspx for more details.<br />

In order for the college of interest to make an admission decision, all documents must be received by the appropriate closing date.<br />
