Focus: Jamaat News to KPSIAJ members. 

This issue, first from the present 

management, covers the achievements 

and efforts in the various services 

being provided by KPSIAJ for 

the uplift and social progress of our 

community. 

Under the visionary leadership of 

the President Mr. Abul Hasan Gokal 

and motivated by the immense support 

received from the community, 

we, as a team, are making constant 

efforts to meet the present challenges 

being faced in the current recession 

and are trying our best to come up to 

the expectations of KPSIAJ members 

and the community. 

I also appreciate the constant guidance 

and support being received by 

our team-members from Mr. Riaz 

Premjee and Mr. Dilawar Shaban 

who are involved in the activities 

and progress of the Jamaat on a regular 

basis. 

I would also like to express my gratitude 

for the overwhelming support 

given to us by all community members 

and the donors, that has made it 

possible for us to work towards our 

goals smoothly and without any hindrances.

Introduction 

On assuming the office of the Jamaat, the new 

Management observed the need to update and 

streamline the existing administrative system 

of KPSIAJ. An informal need analaysis was 

carried out to identify and assess the immediate 

needs of the institution. The purpose of the 

exercise was to bring the system up to date in 

order to improve its quality and performance. 

The data collected through the exercise will 

also prove helpful in identifying those areas 

which will need improvement and better 

management in future. 

This issue aims to share/highlight some of the 

initiatives taken by the present Management 

to bring about a qualitative change, that will 

ensure smooth and efficient functioning of the 

Jamaat. 

Upgradation of Software 

A prompt and error free financial reporting is a 

pre requisite to evaluate the financial strength 

and status of an institution. A new Software 

was purchased and installed for which funds 

were donated by the members of the Managing 

Committee. Young and enthusiastic Managing 

Committee members having expertise in IT are 

working to introduce a paper free environment 

in the KPSIAJ set up in due course of time. 

To protect important data from any undesirable 

eventuality, hardware has also been upgraded 

to fortify all the important details relating to 

accounts and membership. A complete backup 

utility is also installed to ensure that the data 

remains secure at all times. 

Launch of KPSIAJ website 

The ground work for the launch of the website is 

in its last phase. Soon, it will be made available 

to keep members informed of the Jammat’s 

activities. It will help to develop a participative 

relationship between the members and the 

management enabling both to play their role 

for the progress of the community.

Performance and Activities. (April 2009- March 2010) 

Census 2009 

The importance of a comprehensive database 

of the community for formulating long term 

plans, has been given a key place in the 

manifesto of the Elected Body. Upon assuming 

office, the management decided to initiate 

the project on a priority basis. By the grace of 

Allah and the committee’s untiring efforts, the 

project was launched on 15th September 2009, 

on the day of Death Anniversary of Shaheed 

Hameed Ali Bhojani as a tribute to the late 

visionary leader. 

Our team of dedicated volunteers are engaged 

in the process of distribution and collection of 

the Census forms by making door to door visits. 

The process is encountering many challenges 

and the team is hopeful of overcoming these

in phases.We would like to request 

all community members to cooperate 

with our team-members engaged in the 

collection and compilation of data. The 

collection and compilation of the data 

through a newly procured comprehensive 

software will ensure availability and 

analysis of community statistics and pave 

the way for the formulation and designing 

of policies and plans, both short term and 

long term. A complete system of levels of 

accessability has been incorporated in 

the software so as to ensure that the data 

collected remains confidential. 

Indeed, the task cannot be accomplished 

without the cooperation of the community 

members. Apart from multiple advantages, 

the Jamaat intends to issue digitalized ID 

and Health Cards to each member of the 

family, in order to provide access to the 

Health and other facilities provided by the 

KPSIAJ. 

Library and Reading Room 

The importance of a well stocked library in 

promoting education, general awareness 

and developing reading habit cannot be 

denied. Having remained unused for 

some time, the Jamaat Library has now 

been refurbished and air-conditioned to 

facilitate users, particularly our students, 

to pursue their quest for knowledge in a 

pleasant environment. About 5000 titles 

are available with regular additions every 

month The library is now equipped with 

2 computers to facilitate library users, 

and would be especially helpful to the 

students. 

Library facility is available to members 

upon a nominal membership fee. 

Sports Activities 

Mental and physical fitness are 

interdependent. To promote healthy 

activities among the youth, the Sports sub 

committee is entrusted to undertake steps 

for engaging our youngsters in sports. 

Jamaat also acquires the services of 

professional coaches on payment. 

Coaching classes are conducted from time 

to time for karate, table tennis, cricket 

and football. Indoor games are organized 

at the FEN premises while matches for 

cricket and football are organized at 

various grounds in the city. The interest 

and participation of the youth in sporting 

events is growing rapidly. 

A professional table tennis coach provided 

training to our boys aged 8 to 16 years 

during the Summer Camp. Badminton 

courts have been developed in the open 

courtyards of the College buildings to 

facilitate our students. Fatimiyah College 

(Boys and Girls Campus) has been 

equipped with Gym equipments for 

students. 

Human Resource Committee 

Due to the slow down of the economy, the 

role of HRC has become increasingly vital 

in helping job seekers. HRC of Jamaat has 

geared itself up to meet the challenges of 

the task assigned to it. 

In order to streamline the system, IT based 

software has been installed to record and 

process the applications. A seminar on 

career guidance and development was 

conducted to aprise applicants of the 

professional skills and other necessary 

tools required for effective Presentation. 

The placements made by this committee 

upto December 2010 has been most 

encouraging. So far, 150 applications have 

been received out of which by the grace 

of Almighty Allah, and proactive efforts 

by the committee members, 64 applicants 

have been successfully placed in various 

positions and many are in the process of 

test and interviews. 

All avenues are being explored to reach 

the prospective employers. Response 

from Community, business houses and 

banks has been very positive. The support 

being provided by the senior members 

of the Managing Committee is highly 

commendable. HRC is confident, that with 

the continued support of the Community, 

there will be a sizeable enhancement in 

the number of placements. 

HRC Seminar 

A seminar titled “Towards a Winning 

Career” (How to get the job you really 

want) was organized by the members of 

the Human Resouce Committee KPSIAJ, 

on 8th August 2009 at Fatimiyah – ECE 

Auditorium. The objective of the Seminar 

was to educate and help the youth to 

prepare their portfolios. Representatives 

of Pakistan’s leading organizations like 

Barclays Bank PLC Pakistan, Glaxo 

Simthkline Ltd, Pakistan and Reckett 

Benckiser Ltd, Pakistan addressed the 

participants on the following topics: 

• What the Employers look for in 

Candidates’ today. 

• Writing the perfect CV. 

• Preparing for an Emplyment 

Interview. 

The seminar concluded with a Q/A 

session. 

Possession of 

newly acquired plot 

Possession of the plot adjacent to Bhojani 

Hall measuring 2000 sq. yards has been 

acquired after completion of all the 

formalities and the title now stands in the 

name of KPSIAJ. A ceremony to mark the 

occasion was held on 10th Oct 2009. It was 

attended by Donors, Vendors, members 

of Resource Mobilization Sub-Committee, 

and members of the Managing Committee. 

The President and the Honorary General

Secretary of the Jamaat signed the 

documents. 

The previous management committee 

had signed an agreement of purchase 

and made about 50% of the payment. We 

express our deep gratitude to the donors 

who fulfilled their pledge, enabling us 

to execute the sale deed and obtain the 

possession of the plot. This plot will 

be used for further expansion of the 

Fatimiyah Education Network. 

Expansion of 

Fatmiyah Hospital 

A remarkable improvement has been 

witnessed in the performance of Fatimiyah 

Hospital during the recent months. The 

Management of the hospital has won the 

confidence of patients and their families 

through improvement in the services and 

facilities. 

It is note worthy that the capacity of 

the hospital has been increased from 43 

beds to 65 beds, by merely adjusting the 

available space for optimum utilization. 

The General Wards have been airconditioned 

to provide all patients 

(without discrimination) the best possible 

treatment at affordable costs. Number of 

OPD Clinics have also been increased to 

enhance Specialists’ Consultancy. 

Donation Box Sub Committee 

The project was introduced by Shaheed 

Hamid Ali Bhojani.It has proved vital 

for generating funds for the promotion 

of Education. The project was given due 

attention since the start of the tenure. The 

committee took up the task zealously and 

through its efforts enhanced the number 

of donors from 850 to 1000. Efforts are 

continuing to raise it to 1500 in the 

coming months, to meet the growing cost 

of educational expenses. New Software 

has been purchased to replace the 

conventional system of maintaining the 

records manually. 

We thank all the community members 

for their encouraging response to our 

efforts,and request them to further 

enhance their participation in the noble 

cause of educating and training the 

community. 

The Event 

Managing Committee 

The committee is assigned with the task 

of organizing programs on different 

occasions. Such programs do not only 

impart valuable knowledge; but also 

provide an opportunity for both the 

community members and the management, 

to assemble and interact with each other 

to promote better communication. 

Some of the programs organised by the 

committee: 

i) Ramazan Dars programs 

An elaborate program consisting of 

Seminars and Talk shows was chalked 

out for the Holy month of Ramzan, aimed 

at spreading the Divine Message for the 

guidance of all believers. 

Prominent scholars addressed the 

gatherings to give spiritual insights and 

understanding on subjects having deep 

impact on our individual as well as 

collective life. 

Scholarly and healthy discussions on 

the following subjects enlightened the 

participants whose keen interest was 

witnessed in the question answer session. 

• Comparative rights of children and 

parents 

• Bad Innovations in religion 

• The concept of divorce in Islam 

• In the light of Islamic morality; 

Contentment 

• Problems of Computer Age and its 

solutions 

• Quranic injunction on the Day of 

Judgment 

• Family problems and their solutions 

from the Islamic point of view 

• Reality of Invocations and main points 

of Dua-e-Iftitah 

• How to induce children towards 

religion 

• Contributions of Religious scholars of 

Indo-Pak 

• Priorities of Knowledge 

• Unity of Muslim Umma in the 

contemporary world 

• Perceiving man according to Quranic 

point of view 

ii) Seerat Conference 

A Seerat Conference was held to celebrate 

the birth anniversary of Hazrat Fatima 

Zehra (S.A) on the eve 10th May 2009. 

Allama Taqi Shah and Agha Shahid Kashifi 

spoke on the occasion and highlighted 

the multidimensional aspects of Seerate 

Tayyaba Hazrat Fatima( S.A).They 

exhorted women who aspire to achieve 

success in this world and the hereafter 

to follow in the foot steps of Bibi Fatima 

Zehra (S.A) . 

iii) Condolence Meeting 

A meeting was held on 20th May 2009 

to condole the death of the great Islamic 

scholar Ayatollah Syed Mohammad Taqi 

Behjat, who dedicated his life to serve the 

cause of Islam. His life was a blessing for 

the followers of the Ahle Bait and he was 

truly an asset to the Shiite community. 

Maulana Syed Ali Murtuza Zaidi and his 

Eminince Agha Bahauddin shed light on 

the life of Ayatullah Behjat who inspired 

and benefited the seekers of knowledge 

and truth with profound insight and 

Irfaniyat. 

iv) Quiz Competition 

The students of Fatimiyah Girls and 

Fatimiyah Boys School participated in 

a Quiz Competition based on the life of 

Imam Khomeini. Besides being Grand 

Ayatollah Maraj-e-Taqlid, he was also a 

great revolutionary leader. He impacted 

the world with his revolutionary ideas 

and philosophy, aimed at stablising the

World Order through teachings based on 

the Divine Injunctions as ordained by the 

Supreme Creator.. 

Agha Dawoodani, Agha Maisimi and 

Agha Shaeedi were invited to witness the 

event as special guests. 

Pursuit of Academic 

Excellence at FEN 

At FEN, plans to achieve holistic objectives 

of education are constantly reviewed 

to ensure that the system operates at a 

high performance level to deliver worthy 

education. 

1. Value Orientation Program 

The first step of course, is to ‘Enlighten 

the Teachers to Enlighten the Child’. A 

Teachers’ Value Orientation Session was 

launched in the month of July 2009, in 

which 20 classes were conducted for the 

entire faculty of FEN, with subsequent 

periodic sessions planned throughout the 

year. 

2. Curriculum Screening & Enrichment 

A Curriculum Screening Program has 

been initiated to screen, and enrich, all text 

materials for all classes. The underlying 

purpose is to identify ‘implicit messages’ 

if any (between the lines), transmitted by 

certain publishers or text materials, which 

tend to distort the child’s value system, 

and his understanding of our core beliefs. 

Under this program, subject concepts are 

re enforced with value and direction, or 

dilutions, as applicable, by a competent 

Ideological Resource (IR). 

Women Wing of KPSIAJ 

Active participation of women in 

community welfare and awareness 

programs is essential for the betterment 

and prosperity of the community. Great 

and successful leaders are raised in the 

laps of great mothers. The wing has been 

visibly active in mobilizing community 

women in different activities and 

programs. In the last six months it has 

conducted and organized programs some 

of which are mentioned in brief. 

(a) Youme Janabe Sayyeda (S.A) 

The birth anniversary of Khatoon-e-Jannat 

Janabe Fatima Zehra (S.A) was celebrated 

by organizing a Milad for ladies on 

Monday 1st June 2009 at Shaheed Hamid 

Ali Bhojani Hall. It was attended by more 

than 700 ladies and children. 

(b) Women Summer Camp 2009 

A five week session of Summer Classes 

was organized at Fatmiyah Girls School 

from 8 of June 2009 to 10 of July 2009. 

The program received a good response as 

338 ladies participated. Different classes 

arranged in Arts and Crafts evoked keen 

interest of the participants . At the end of 

the session, the juniors and seniors were 

taken to recreational trips to Zoological 

Garden and Fun Land respectively. 

(c) Milad and Mela 

The KPSIAJ Managing Committee decided 

to consider and celebrate 20th Jamadis- 

Sani, birthday of Hazrat Fatima Zehra 

(S.A) as the World’s Women Day,and 

proposed that every year the Wiladat 

should be celebrated in the spirit of Eid. 

On 14 of June 2009, the Event Management 

Committee along with the Women Wing 

of KPSIAJ arranged a ladies Milad to 

celebrate the Wiladat of Hazrat Fatima 

Zahra (S.A.) The Women Wing organized 

a Mela on 21st June 2009 for ladies and 

children, to provide them an opportunity 

to celebrate the occasion in its true spirit. 

(d)Vocational Program 

After successful organization of the 

summer classes, a Vocational Programme 

for the women and young girls of the 

community was launched in the evenings 

from 28th September to 12thDecember 

2009.The classes which were held thrice a 

week, included various professional arts 

and craft. A karate class for children was 

an additional feature of the program. 

(e) Monthly Dars 

Monthly Dars on ‘AQAAID’ was 

conducted by Mohtarma Tahira Fazli 

for the ladies of the community. The 

program commenced in October 2009 

at the Fatmiyah Community Centre and 

continued till December 2009. 

(f) English Language Class 

Weekly English Language Preparatory 

classes for Board Examination for the 

students of class IX to XII were conducted 

for 40 students from 9th January till 20th 

March 2010. Another six week session 

began on the request of the previous 

participants from 27th March,2010. 

(g) Jashn-e-Eid –Zehra (S.A.) 

Jashn-e-Eid-e-Zehra was celebrated on the 

9th Rabi-ul-Awwal 1431 corresponding 

to 24th February 2010 at Shaheed Hamid 

Ali Bhojani Hall. 1800 ladies and children 

attended the program. 

(h) Outing 

An outing for ladies of 20 years of age 

and above was arranged at BK farm on 

Saturday 3rd April,2010. 150 ladies of the 

community spent the day with great joy. 

( i )Vocational Program (kharadar) 

Six weeks class in Self grooming,Sewing 

and Mehndi has been arranged for girls 

living in Kharadar from 6th April 2010. 50 

girls have registered for the class which 

will continue till 11th May,2010. 

Fatimiyah Community Centre 

The Donor of Ghusal Khana had expressed 

concerns with regard to its maintenance. 

The Managing Committee undertook the 

task of the renovations, and completed it 

to the satisfaction of the donor. Jamaat’s 

funds were not utilized for the renovations. 

The expenses for the renovations were 

shared/raised by the members. 

Family Relations Committee 

FRC (KPSIAJ) has been working devotedly 

for the past several years to render support 

and help to those members of the community 

who seek the Jamaat’s help to resolve their 

family/marital disputes. 

By the grace of Allah and the sincere efforts 

of the members, now the ratio of divorce vs. 

compromise has improved considerably. 

Community members (facing family issues) 

are requested to involve FRC at an early stage 

of the dispute, so as to enable it to resolve 

matters amicably and to the satisfaction of

oth parties. 

Let’s work together to make the community 

strong. 

Seminar 

A seminar on the topic ‘Ilm aur Aqdar’ 

(Knowledge and Values) was organised 

on 3rd Jan 2010 at Shaheed Hamid Ali 

Bhojani Hall for ladies and gents. The 

program commenced with the recitation of 

a manaqabat by Ali Safdar Rizvi. Hujjat-ul- 

Islam Ayatullah Aqeel-ul Garvi addressed 

the gathering for an hour on the topic Ilm 

aur Aqdar (Knowledge and Values). The 

speech was followed by a Q/A session. A 

documentary on the topic of Shahadat with 

special reference of’ ‘Sanha-e-Ashura’ was 

also witnessed by the gathering. Niaz was 

served at end of the seminar. The Jamaat 

had made special arrangements to provide 

transport service (pick and drop) from 

different areas of the city to Bhojani Hall. 

Majlis-e-Aza 

A Majlis –Aza was held at Hussaini Bagh 

Qabrastan No.1. (gents only) on 28th Safar 

(13th February 2010), Shahdat of Propet 

(PBUH) and Imam Hassan (A.S.). The majlis 

was addressed by Maulana Haider Turabi. It 

was the first program to be conducted at the 

premises after the re-possession of the place. 

Qayam-e-Hussain Conference 

A five day Conference was organised at 

Bhojani Hall for (ladies and gents).The 

program consisted of one hour of speech 

followed by an hour of Q/A session.The 

main theme of the conference was Qayam-e- 

Hussain (A.S). All the speakers spoke in the 

light of the main theme of the conference.

Syed Muhammad Musavi’s 

visit 

Hujjat-ul –Islam wal- Muslimeen Syed 

Muhammed Musavi visited FEN and 

Fatimiyah Hospital on Monday 1st March, 

2010.The president KPSIAJ received the 

distinguished guest along with members of 

the Managing Committee. Speaking on the 

occasion, Syed Muhammed Musavi praised 

the efforts of the Jamaat for establishing 

Educational and Health Unit.He opined that 

KPSIAJ is considered as a nucleus among 

the vast Khoja population around the globe 

for the services it renders for the benefit of 

members. 

Family Park 

(Fatimiyah Sports and 

Recreation Centre Phase I) 

The opening ceremony of the 1st phase of 

the Fatimiyah Sports&Recreation Centre 

was held at the Fatimiyah School of ECE on 

7th March 2010. The ceremony commenced 

with a recitation of Dua by Aga Asghar 

Hussain Shaheedi. 

Mr. Naveed Muqadum, member Managing 

Committee in his inaugural speech briefed 

the guests about the salient features of the 

family Park. 

Mr.Ali Hussain Rajab Ali, the chief guest, 

performed the formal opening of the Family 

Park on the occasion of the wiladat of the 

Holy Prophet (Pbuh) and Imam Jafar-e-Sadiq 

(A.S.). In his speech, he praised the efforts 

of the Jamaat and prayed for the success of 

similar projects in the future.The President 

KPSIAJ briefed the gathering about the 

upcoming projects related to sports and 

education.The ceremony ended with a vote 

of thanks, followed by a tour of the Park and 

refreshments. 

Jashn-Sadeqain (A.S.) & Wahdat 

Conference 

Maulana Syed Ali Murtaza Zaidi, Professor 

Dr.Hafiz Ahsan-ul-Haq, and Maulana 

Mohammed Raza Dawoodani adressed a 

conference on the topic Wehdat and Seerat 

Sadeqain (A.S) held at the Shaheed Hamid 

Ali Bhojani Hall on 9th March 2010. for both 

(ladies and gents). 

The conference commenced with a manqabat 

by Asim Raza, Rizwan Zaidi,and Musayab 

Zaidi. The program was organised on the 

theme of Wehdat-e-Muslimeen, and was 

attended by a representative of Ahle-Sunnat 

Professor Dr. Hafiz Ahsanul –Haq (Professor 

of Islamiyat at KU), who was invited as a 

speaker at the conference. 

Majlis-e-Isaal-e-Sawaab of 

Community Marhumeen (Mahe- 

Rabi-ul-Awal) 

Maulana Mohammed Raza Dawoodani 

addressed a Majlis on 18th March2010 for the 

Isaal- Sawaab of 24 community marhumeen 

who passed away in the month of Rabi-ul- 

Awal. The majlis was held at the Fatimiyah 

Community Centre (Ghusal Khana). 

Majalis will now be held on every first 

Thursday of the month for -Isaal-e-Sawaab 

of community marhumeen who passed 

away in the previous month. 

Hussaini Bagh No 1. Graveyard 

As the community is aware that Hussaini 

Bagh no.1 (graveyard) has been under illegal 

occupation by the family members of one of 

the Jamaat’s old employee (deceased) since 

last 3 years. The previous management’s 

untiring efforts to end this illegal occupation

could not succeed till the take over by the 

new management in April 2009. The new 

management considered this issue as a top 

priority and we are pleased to inform that 

a settlement has been reached between the 

illegal occupants and the Jamaat management 

whereby the illegal occupants shall vacate 

the graveyard shortly. 

In the meantime Jamaat can use the Hall of 

the Imambargah and start the repair work. 

A Majlis was held on 28th Safar at the above 

mentioned hall and repair work has already 

begun at the site. 

Utilization of Jamaat Premises 

The premises of Jamaat are being utilized to 

its maximum during idle hours by various 

community organizations from time to time 

at special discounted rates.

KPSIAJ organized the Presidential Election 

of the World Federation on 6th Sept 2009 

in Karachi, with the assistance of the Isna 

Asheri Boys Scout Group. For the first time, 

out of the 6 Candidates, 3 notable candidates 

were present in Karachi during the ballot. 

The candidates unanimously appreciated 

the element of transparency maintained 

throughout the process of the election. New 

software designed by the professionals of 

Isna Asheri Boys Scout, was used to cast
