Rosnay, who is a pimp, among other things, dreams with visiting Nevada and drags his “girlfriend” Lucia with him. Nevada is not precisely Lucia’s goal, but she doesn’t want to lose Rosnay and decides to embark on an illegal journey. This is the beginning of this play, which gets complicated in unsuspected ways, and whose characters are men and women of a troubled and thorny here and now. Que el diablo te acompañe 11-13 Oct, 6:00 pm / 2011 Sala Adolfo Llauradó Based on the famous legendary literary character Don Juan, this pleasant comedy written by Cuban playwright Abelardo Estorino and produced by Teatro Pálpito delves into a recurring theme in Cuba’s theatrical world and society—machismo, or male chauvinism. Under the premise of “criticizing customs while laughing,” the play directed by Ariel Boza, who also heads the company, delves deeply into vices such as slander, gossip and prejudices, which weigh down man’s feeling of fulfillment. Festival de Teatro de La Habana 28 de octubre-6 de noviembre / 2011 Almost 20 theater companies from Argentina, Germany, Spain, Ecuador, Slovenia, Finland, France, Greece, Holland, Mexico, Cyprus, Turkey and the UK, among others, will join Cuba to offer a panorama of the most recent theatrical production in the world. The Festival’s program includes theoretical discussions and an exhibition on the portrayal of characters from their wardrobe.
