Museums and open spaces of Old
Havana April 10-14
Whoever visits Old Havana´s Historical Centre in
April will find a surprising sight: the old city
dances. Plazas, parks, streets, museums and old
rambling houses seem to be possessed by the
spirit of dance, which invoked by dancer and
choreographer Isabel Bustos and her company
Retazos—Bits and Pieces—turns balconies,
windows, stairs and centenary walls into stages,
for the 18th International Dance Festival in Urban
Landscapes Old Havana: City in Motion, which
announces the following program:
APRIL 10, 4PM, MUSEO DE LA ORFEBRERÍA:
Opening of the exhibition Palpitar, by Alberto
Valladares, with small and large sculptures made
in silver, steel, bronze, copper, ceramics and
marble, inspired in Alicia Alonso’s dance.
APRIL 10, 9PM, PLAZA DE ARMAS:
Opening ceremony with the first night
performance of Un corazón que palpita, by the
Retazos Dance Company directed by Isabel
Bustos.
APRIL 10-14
6pm: Performances at Casa Benito Juárez.
7pm: Performances at Casa Guayasamín.
8pm: Performances at Casa de África.
9pm: Performances at Las Carolinas, the Retazos
Dance Company headquarters
APRIL 13, 9PM, VITRINA DE VALONIA:
Theoretical event “A Conversation with Dance”
among dancers and choreographers.
APRIL 14, 9PM, PLAZA DE ARMAS:
Closing ceremony.
