Museums and open spaces of Old<br />

Havana April 10-14<br />

Whoever visits Old Havana´s Historical Centre in<br />

April will find a surprising sight: the old city<br />

dances. Plazas, parks, streets, museums and old<br />

rambling houses seem to be possessed by the<br />

spirit of dance, which invoked by dancer and<br />

choreographer Isabel Bustos and her company<br />

Retazos—Bits and Pieces—turns balconies,<br />

windows, stairs and centenary walls into stages,<br />

for the 18th International Dance Festival in Urban<br />

Landscapes Old Havana: City in Motion, which<br />

announces the following program:<br />

APRIL 10, 4PM, MUSEO DE LA ORFEBRERÍA:<br />

Opening of the exhibition Palpitar, by Alberto<br />

Valladares, with small and large sculptures made<br />

in silver, steel, bronze, copper, ceramics and<br />

marble, inspired in Alicia Alonso’s dance.<br />

APRIL 10, 9PM, PLAZA DE ARMAS:<br />

Opening ceremony with the first night<br />

performance of Un corazón que palpita, by the<br />

Retazos Dance Company directed by Isabel<br />

Bustos.<br />

APRIL 10-14<br />

6pm: Performances at Casa Benito Juárez.<br />

7pm: Performances at Casa Guayasamín.<br />

8pm: Performances at Casa de África.<br />

9pm: Performances at Las Carolinas, the Retazos<br />

Dance Company headquarters<br />

APRIL 13, 9PM, VITRINA DE VALONIA:<br />

Theoretical event “A Conversation with Dance”<br />

among dancers and choreographers.<br />

APRIL 14, 9PM, PLAZA DE ARMAS:<br />

Closing ceremony.<br />
